Some of the absolute nonsense Iโm seeing about Rocky Horror Picture Show is why itโs so important to learn LGBTQ+ history and to respect your elders in the community. Just talking out of your asses because you want to be right and virtue signal so bad. Oh my GOD
Here is the thing, kids. Rocky Horror has been around a loooong time. You have had over 50 years to find it and decide it was a problem for you. It's the part where you are using Tim Curry's death as an opportunity to make this an issue that feels performative and immature
โfrank n furter was transsexual! which is transphobic!!!โ
no. heโs stated to be from a place called transexual, transylvania.
he was a cross dresser.
god this is why we hate some of you dumb motherfuckers.
my grief over dolly and tim curry is absolutely parasocial but you can't understate the impact that both of those people had for queer people, for women, for people who have always had "weird" interests and big personalities, they were icons for anyone strange
the โiโm going homeโ scene in The Rocky Horror Picture Show hits even harder now. r.i.p Tim Curry. you were such a formative part of so many of our introductions to theatre, film, and everything weird and wonderful in between ๐ชฝ
โBut if death comes for me peacefully and I fade gently from light into dark oblivion, why would I be afraid of it? Sometimes, I rather think it would be a comfort.โ
Thank you for everything, Tim โค๏ธ
Imagination Library has 40k followers, but should have MORE. If you can't donate in Dolly's honor, then we could at least help grow the platform and its visibility by following.
So yโall donโt be seeing the conversations about the power grid going out soon, us running out of clean water, the fruits losing their seeds so we canโt regrow them, the robots advancing fast asf, meat being made in factories and getting shipped from Argentina (beef) with a known chemical on it etcโฆ. Like when are we gone talk about all of that instead of everything that donโt matter?
If Dolly taught me anything, itโs to never have these folks catch you lacking. She always looked her best, she controlled her image, and how she showed up in the world. Even until the very end, she let us know on her terms compared to any other outlet.
Letโs never forget what Dolly did. She donated $1 m for Covid research, paid for all of her Dollywood employees to go to college, decreased high school drop out rates in her home county, donated books to every kid under 5 there & so much more. Letโs all be more like Dolly๐
"Dolly wasn't political"... OH STFU she backed BLM, gay marriage, women's rights, funded vaccines, dumped dixie and wrote a whole ass song dragging politicians. She wasnt apolitical. She was nonpartisan. Dolly's gift was making people feel loved w/o pretending they are right.
