Should Dhoni bat up in the order? No. Should Dhoni come up when the 4th wicket is lost in the last five overs? Yes.

It has more to do with his entry point than the batting spot.

But yes, seeing him come out to bat after Ashwin was disappointing, irrespective of whatever logic I apply.

Now bigger picture, how long will it take for fans to understand Dhoni isn't going to bat in the middle-order? It's been 3 years now. He has assigned himself a role and he will stick to it, batting mainly in the last 5 overs. We have picked players for middle overs, if they aren't doing their job and winning you the game, don't put it on Dhoni. His prime days are gone. I don't expect him to wicket-keep for 20 overs and then come and bat for 10 overs. You have to play at least 14 matches in this league. Also, now he can't construct the innings for you and then finish. Stop looking back at prime Dhoni to set your expectations. He needs a platform now. If Dhoni fails to finish, it will then be on him. He will have to take blame. But not for this garbage entire batting order's failure. There are so many issues with CSK, and Dhoni not coming to bat up isn't the primary one. I can understand with others entirely putting the loss on Dhoni's batting spot for fun, but fans not seeing this is funny.

Everyone wants him and everyone is his fan including me. Yesterday was bittersweet. I wanted us to win and him to hit some big sixes but we lost and he got out. The only bright spot was our bowlers did so well in restricting them but eventually it was not enough.

There’s been so much outrage on this for no reason lol just because of the number 9 position next to his name. His role has been very clearly defined vs pace in the back end. RC had an over left and Shardul was sent ahead considering MS vs Chahar. Shardul played a positive knock too. MS has been creating high impact despite the short stays because of the clear definition of the role. One failure and talks are like he has pushed things back 10 years or stg. Misdirected outrage lol
