The Kukis are reminiscing about their time in refugee camps, after the Kuki-Paite clash of 1997 in this song.

The Kuki-Paite/Zomi clash followed a few years after the Kuki-Naga ethnic clash. The conflict began when the Kukis killed 10 Paite villagers of Saikul in June, 1997, leading to retaliation from the Zomis/Paites.

There were 352 deaths reported, 13k+ people displaced and thousands of houses destroyed.

Manipur will only know real peace if Kuki militants give up their supremacist and separatist ideology.

After armed Kuki militants launched an attack on members of the Liangmai Naga community in Konsaram village, abducting and severely assaulting the chairman of Konsaram village, the Kuki women of L. Phaijang & L. Tangnom (Haraothel) village made threats against any development activity in the area.

These unprovoked attacks by the armed Kuki militants upon the peaceful Naga villagers and the subsequent threats show their continued acts of brutal aggression upon the indigenous communities of Manipur.

The attack was carried out while the 1st tripartite peace talks were being held in New Delhi to restore normalcy in Manipur, and this was a deliberate act to ignite further violence in the state.

The Zeliangrong community must not take this incident lightly and take strong measures to prevent such attacks again in the future. The government must also take swift action against the perpetrators to restore faith in the system.
