I am in the Cal Raleigh for MVP camp.

He is leading the AL in home runs (58) and RBI (121). He has caught 118 games.

Johnny Bench led his league in home runs and RBI in 1970 (45/148) and 1972 (40/125). He won MVP both years. He caught 139 and 129 games respectively.

Salvy Perez is the other other catcher to do so (48/121) in 2021. He caught 124 games. He finished 7th in MVP that season.

Judge is having an incredible year. An MVP year. He is going to win the batting title while hitting 50+ home runs. His 209 OPS+ is ridiculous.

The thing is, there have 28 other seasons were an outfielder has recorded an OPS+ of 209 or higher.

No other catcher has ever hit 50+ home runs. Raleigh has a shot at 60.

It is a 1/1 season. He destroyed the record for home runs by a catcher. He has caught the 4th most games in the MLB this season. He plays great defense. His team is in 1st place.

He has earned MVP.
