These verbs can be used for assessment design, curriculum design, lesson planning, personalizing and differentiating learning, and almost any other 'thing' a teacher--or student--has to do. #education#teaching https://t.co/tOxe5pRgEH
For Tier 1 to be what it should be, we must not lower the bar.
Our job in Tier 1 is to set the bar, make learners aware of the bar & what it takes to reach it, & then lift ALL learners to the bar.
Lowering anything amounts to nothing.
We raise the learners up instead.
Tier 1 improvement doesn't require adding new things.
New curriculum
New interventions
New programs
Improvement happens when we work towards mastery of what we already know is working.
We know what works for learning to happen & we have the talent to master Tier 1 design.
Rather than grading homework, invite students to self-assess on three criteria:
1. I need more challenge.
2. I need more practice.
3. I need help.
Start class in differentiated groups around these needs.
Prairiewood staff had professional development today about vocabulary - FishBowls- our coaches modeled strategies with students and debriefed with the team after. Great discussions! #wcusd200#pwepanthers
Schools may think they want me to present on “bullying,” but after we talk, they get why that’s too narrow. To change kids’ behavior, we 1st need to normalize social churn, demystify popularity, operationalize kindness, help them assume good intent, & ID when & why they’re mean.
Parents are significantly concerned about the poor behavior of today's school-age kids and are looking to schools for help, a survey shows.

If students leave school without:
1) knowing their talents
2) finding their passions
3) a sense of purpose
4) confidence experienced from success
5) willing to take risks or fail because of success/ confidence
then we have failed them.
Happy Fourth of July!
As we celebrate today, let's thank our armed forces and their families for their service to our country.
And let's recommit to fighting for our democracythere's still so much work to be done to perfect our union.
