Can we stop early breast cancer before it turns invasive?
We're funding new research at @EdinburghUni, where Dr Takanori Kitamura is investigating if blocking certain immune cells could prevent DCIS from becoming invasive.

Gathered in beautiful #Budva for our Annual WG & MC meeting with Hybrid #Workshop! Day 1 marches on with collaborative group sessions, focusing on our #scRNA-seq atlases in @cellxgene to investigate distinct clusters 🔍🦁
Gathered in beautiful Budva for our Annual WG & MC meeting with Hybrid Workshop! SIMBA🦁is here too, working & enjoying the scenery. We kicked off our workshop with presentations from @petitprez_f, @alexdietrich_, @Bioinfomagics, @itisalist, @nico_trummer in the morning session.
Takanori Kitamura received an Early Detection and Diagnosis Primer Award to identify gene expression profiles of macrophages in tumour lesions of #DCIS samples to define potential markers for #BreastCancer risk prediction.

🔬 Last week, hosted by @petitprez_f @ @EdinburghUni, #macrophage cell experts were testing the new bioinformatic tools developed in collaboration with the groups of @itisalist @ @TU_Muenchen and @Francesca_Fin_
Great day at the 7th 'A Cell for all Seasons: Macrophages in Health and Disease' Symposium listening to fantastic talks about all things #macrophages. Also a lovely tribute to our mentor Prof Jeff Pollard from Prof Hilary Critchley @JPollardLab#EdUniMacs23
Great week spent @Innate_IGTP for the @MyeInfoBank@COSTprogramme STSM to optimise immunostaining for a #macrophage biomarker panel. Big thank you to Dr Maria Rosa Sarrias and @TonyPau05321718 for hosting us, organising the experiments and a delivering a fantastic symposium.
A “Jeff Pollard Fund” will be created to support cancer research through studentships for early career researchers. To donate, select “In memory donation” to question “What prompted you to make this donation?”. “In memory of”. Write “Jeff Pollard”. (https://t.co/hLp3czisa7)
Truly saddened by the passing of Jeff who was an inspirational scientist, fantastic mentor & wonderful person. It is a privilege having worked with Jeff over the last few years and will always be thankful for the time in his lab, which was always a little brighter with him around
We are deeply saddened by the passing of our group leader, Prof. Jeffrey Pollard. Jeff was a passionate scientist and an outstanding mentor who will be sorely missed. We will continue his legacy through our ongoing research. Our thoughts are with his wife Ooi Thye and the family.
