American media often refer to the BJP as “Hindu nationalists,” but rarely describe Republicans as “Christian nationalists,” even as the relationship between the Republican Party and Christian nationalism has shifted from a quiet alliance to a central pillar of the party’s identity and policy agenda. Recent surveys by the Public Religion Research Institute (PRRI) find that a majority of Republicans are now either “adherents” or “sympathizers” of Christian nationalism.

This reluctance to label the GOP “Christian nationalist” reflects Western self-image. To do so would be to acknowledge that the United States is not an “enlightened, secular” state, but one where religious identity is a primary driver of power — much like the systems the West often scrutinizes in the East through Edward Said’s lens of Orientalism.

In the Western imagination, Eastern politics is often cast as inherently religious or tribal.

The very tolerance that defines a democracy can, if unchecked, be used against it.
SO WE NEED TO LOOK AT THE DEEPER QUESTIONS, THE MORE UNCOMFORTABLE THE BETTER.
What NASHIK case exposes, just like AJMER did is not just crime but a pattern where belief is weaponised through grooming and deception. A secular democracy cannot allow faith to become a tool of coercion. Hindu tradition is a univeral truth. Hindus don't convert. But it is up against aggressive proselytisation that blurs the line between consent and exploitation.
India already has anti-conversion laws. They exist. And yet cases like this keep surfacing. Which raises a blunt question. Are these laws failing, or are they inherently incapable of policing intent and coercion? Besides laws don't change mindsets.
So the debate must now move beyond law to first principles.
Can coercive or induced conversion ever be cleanly regulated?
Or does the very act of proselytisation in vulnerable settings create conditions for misuse?
Can a society that permits conversion also guarantee that it remains truly voluntary?
Liberals may resist the question. They will chaffe and troll. But what is the alternative?
And is the current model strengthening social harmony or steadily eroding trust in a plural society?

बिहारीजी के नाम पर सालों अपनी दुकान चलाने वाले और भक्तों से मार पीट करने वाले ये डकैत आज श्रद्धालुओं के लिए सुविधाएं बढ़ने से कितने दुखी हैं, ये देखना विस्मयकारी है, क्योंकि इतने वर्षों से इन्होंने बस बिहारीजी को भक्तों से दूर रखने का ही कार्य किया है। अब समिति ने तय किया है कि बिहारीजी इनके बंधक न बनकर सबको जगमोहन से दर्शन देंगे। पहले बिहारीजी जगमोहन में तभी आते थे जब कोई भक्त 30-40 लाख रुपये इन लोगों को देकर फूल बंगला करवाये।

वर्षों से इन लोगों ने मंदिर में दर्शन, पूजा, प्रसाद, माला, भोग, फूल बंगला के नाम पर खुली डकैती की हैं। इनकी बुढ़ापा पेंशन, इनके बच्चों के महंगे स्कूलों की फीस तक बिहारीजी के खाते से जाती थी। जरा-जरा सी बात पर ये लोग भक्तों से मार-पीट करने को उतारू हो जाते थे क्योंकि मंदिर में इनका निष्कंटक राज था। एक अविवाहित सन्यासी के वंशज होने का दावा कर के इन लोगों ने पीढ़ियों की सुख संपत्ति जुटा ली और हरिदास जी के नाम पर बिहारीजी के असली सेवायत टटिया स्थान वाले संतों को निकाल बाहर कर दिया। इन्होंने मंदिर में कोई व्यवस्था नहीं की, पैसे ले कर दर्शन करवाते रहे, और सामान्य श्रद्धालु बेचारे घुटन और भीड़ से पिसते रहे, मरते रहे, और इनके घर भरते रहे। न जाने कितने उदाहरण हैं जहाँ इन्होंने गिरोह बनाके मंदिर के अंदर श्रद्धालुओं पर हमला कर दिया, कितनों के सिर तक फोड़ दिए, पर इन का कोई कुछ नहीं बिगाड़ पाया। एक ऐसी घटना तो अभी 2-4 दिन पहले भी हुई, जिसने इनके 2 साथी गिरफ्तार हुए। इनके आतंक के कारण न जाने कितने श्रद्धालुओं ने बिहारीजी के दर्शन को जाना ही छोड़ दिया।

योगीजी की सरकार ने जब मंदिर की व्यवस्थाएं सुधारने की सोची तो इन लोगों ने महंगे से महंगे वकीलों को सुप्रीम कोर्ट तक खड़ा किया पर जेल के ताले तोड़कर बृज पहुंच जाने वाले भगवान जब बंधन मुक्ति का संकल्प ले लें तो कौन सा बंधन उनको रोक पाएगा! कोर्ट का निर्णय आ गया और मंदिर में व्यवस्थाएं ठीक होने लगीं तो शाहीन बाग की तरह अपने घर की महिलाओं को आगे कर कि पहले एक मंत्री पर हमला करवाया, फिर योगीजी के कार्यक्रम में व्यवधान किया और अभी 2 दिन पहले एक बुजुर्ग गोस्वामी के घर में घुसकर हल्ला किया, मारपीट की धमकी दी।

सच में हिंदू समाज प्रधानमंत्री जी का, मुख्यमंत्री योगी जी और न्यायालय का सदा ऋणी रहेगा यदि इन सबके चंगुल से बिहारीजी को सफ़लतापूर्वक बाहर ला पाए। बिहारीजी के करोड़ो भक्तों के ह्रदय में आज प्रसन्नता के भाव हैं, क्योंकि उनके भगवान इन पापियों की जेल से बाहर निकले हैं।

स्वयं बाबसाहब डॉ भीमराव ने 57 वर्ष की उम्र में दोबारा शादी की, क्योंकि वो बीमार थे और उन्हें सेवा करवानी थी। लेकिन, उस महिला को मिला क्या? तुम आंबेडकरवादियों ने उनपर अपने आका की हत्या का आरोप लगाकर उन्हें अपने अभियान से बाहर कर दिया। उन्हें ब्राह्मण बताकर गाली दी गई। प्रधानमंत्री को समिति गठित करनी पड़ी। भीमराव की सेवा की क़ीमत उस महिला ने जाँच और पूछताछ के लम्बे दौर से गुजरकर चुकाई। महाराष्ट्र छोड़ना पड़ा, दिल्ली में शरण लेनी पड़ी। अंततः सभी आरोपों से मुक्त की गईं।

जिस महिला को आंबेडकर ने अपनी उम्र 8-10 साल बढ़ा देने का श्रेय दिया, जब तुमलोगों ने उस महिला को अपमानित किया तो किसी दूसरी महिला को कुछ कहने का तो तुम्हें अधिकार ही नहीं है।

दूसरी बात, आस्था सिंह को आंबेडकर का नाम लेकर गाली देने से पहले ये जान लो कि जिस क्षेत्र में भीमराव का जन्म हुआ अकेले उस क्षेत्र ने रानी रूपमती से लेकर दुर्गावती और लोकमाता अहिल्याबाई होल्कर जैसी महिला शासकों ने धरती नापी थी। उस समय ना आंबेडकर थे और न था आंबेडकरवाद।
