EXCLUSIVE: While the sequel to ‘Godzilla Minus One’ doesn’t bow till next month, Takashi Yamazaki is getting the wheels in motion for his first major studio pic, ‘Grandgear,’ as he has found his cast to lead that movie.

Sources tell Deadline that Sam Nivola and Nico Parker are set to join the pic with Paul Giamatti in talks to also board the film. Yamazaki is directing from an original screenplay he penned. Bad Robot’s J.J. Abrams is producing along with Glen Zipper.

Keanu Reeves is set to star in ‘Maelstrom,’ a new Netflix action flick from ‘Carry-On’s Jaume Collet-Serra, sources have confirmed to Deadline.

Reeves takes over the lead from ‘Reacher’s Alan Ritchson, who exited the project for undisclosed reasons.

In ‘Maelstrom,’ a Federal Marshal assigned to protect the fiancée of an arms dealer turned witness must defend her through one brutal night as a hurricane cuts off communication, strands them without reinforcements, and unleashes the dealer’s men on their safe house.
