THE 17 AUGUST MASSACRE: TURKISH BARBARISM THAT THE WORLD STILL IGNORES🚨

On 17 August 1974, in the village of Palekythro, four Turkish Cypriots from neighbouring villages lined up 21 Greek Cypriot civilians mostly women and children from the Souppouris and Liasis families and executed them in cold blood.
Infants, toddlers, mothers, aunts, grandparents, shot one after another in the yard of a house where they had sought refuge.
Their bodies were piled on top of each other and a handful of children who survived the slaughter were wounded and orphaned and forced to watch their entire families die.

This was deliberate sadistic execution of unarmed civilians during the second phase of Turkey’s invasion of Cyprus and surely not an isolated case. Across the island in those weeks of summer 1974, thousands of Greek Cypriot civilians were executed, hundreds of women and girls, young and old were sexually abused by Turkish forces and their collaborators. Villages were emptied, families wiped out and mass graves were filled.

Fifty two years later, Turkey still occupies nearly 40% of the Republic of Cyprus. The same state that enabled and promoted this barbarism continues to deny responsibility, rewrite history and demand recognition of its illegal regime in the illegally occupied north part of Cyprus.

Let the world never forget the Souppouris and Liasis families and the children who watched their mothers and siblings die.
This history must never be buried with the world’s silence.

May 13, 1981. St. Peter’s Square. A gunman shoots Pope John Paul II at close range, nearly killing him. The shooter, Mehmet Ali Ağca, was a member of a Turkish organization most of the world had never heard of: the Grey Wolves.

August 14, 1996. Deryneia, Cyprus. The same organization’s members shoot Solomos Solomou dead, live on camera, as he climbs a flagpole to tear down a Turkish flag , three days after Turkish Cypriots beat his cousin to death in the UN buffer zone.

Same organization, same playbook.

The Grey Wolves , officially the Ülkü Ocakları, “Idealist Hearths” , were founded as the paramilitary youth wing of Turkey’s Nationalist Movement Party by Colonel Alparslan Türkeş.

Their founding myth is literally a wolf: in Turkic legend, a grey wolf led ancient Turks out of a valley where they’d been trapped for centuries, into salvation.

The organization built an entire ultranationalist identity on that story Turkic supremacy, violence against “internal enemies,” and a hand salute so associated with the ideology that Germany and Austria have banned it outright.

The mafia connection isn’t incidental either. Turkey’s biggest mob boss, Alaattin Çakıcı, has a documented history inside the organization.

A leaked Turkish parliamentary report kept classified as a state secret for over a decade before it leaked in 2008 detailed direct connections between the Grey Wolves’ assassinations and bombings across Europe and Turkey’s own intelligence service, MİT.

Networks engaged in drug trafficking inside Turkey routinely identify themselves as Grey Wolves members.

And it never stopped operating. France banned the group outright in November 2020, citing an organized weapons training camp for youth in the Ardèche region and the group defacing an Armenian genocide memorial with the president’s initials.

Germany’s domestic intelligence agency now tracks the Grey Wolves as the largest right-wing extremist organization in the entire country, ahead of every native German far-right group. Roughly 270 affiliated youth clubs still operate across Germany and Austria today.

In 2024, a Turkish national team footballer made the group’s hand salute on camera at the European Championship, in Germany, after scoring a goal — UEFA suspended him, German officials summoned Turkey’s ambassador, and the incident became a live diplomatic dispute.

the group responsible for shooting a Pope in Rome and killing a man on a flagpole in Cyprus isn’t a historical artifact either country has moved past but an active, tracked, EU-flagged extremist network with youth recruitment infrastructure operating inside European borders right now, protected in several countries only by the gap between what intelligence agencies know and what governments are willing to formally act on.

Thirty years after Deryneia, the European Parliament is still just calling for the EU to add them to its terror list.

You think these events belong to distant history, but most of you do not know that Muslims were slaughtering and expelling millions of Christians until 1922, that is, until about 100 years ago, events very fresh in the memories of Greeks and Armenians, with survivors recounting what they experienced even today.

For the mass extermination and genocide of the Greeks and the Armenians from Anatolia, the Turkish authorities used the most terrible and barbaric plans: they looted, raped, burned entire villages, tortured, mutilated, slaughtered, burned, and even buried alive men, women, children, elders, and turned extensive Greek Christian communities that until then flourished and radiated their cultural brilliance throughout the East into vast cemeteries.

In Turkey, Islamizations were methodical with the establishment of special orphanages, where orphaned Greek and Armenian children were gathered, whose parents had been slaughtered or expelled from their own homes and ancestral land, or children who were forcibly abducted from their parents' hands. In these orphanages' young inmates, pure Muslim and Turkish education was provided, which inevitably led to their Islamization. This exact role was played by the orphanage of Panormos, which was founded at the suggestion and instruction of the German general Liman von Sanders. Another method of Islamization was the forced and violent settlement of 5-10 Greek families in compact Turkish villages, from where any exit and communication with Greek populations was prohibited.

Senator Damat Ferit Pasha (former Grand Vizier) reveals the following in the session of the Turkish Senate on October 22, 1918:

"The annihilation of the Christian populations is attributable as a crime to the Committee of Union and Progress, and it was a crime committed without any reason. The populations were forced to leave under threat and violence and were mercilessly exterminated… The total number of Ottoman subjects deported in this way amounts to 550,000 souls; I fear, however, that this number is lower than the actual one."

Furthermore, Valide Edip Hanım, one of the most distinguished journalists in Turkey, writes in the newspaper "Vakit" (October 22, 1918):

"We drove away our Greek subjects and did everything to uproot them, as we did with the Armenians, and for this purpose we used methods resembling those of the Middle Ages. The theory of forced Islamization became the cause of a criminal tragedy in the hands of robbers and murderers. Governors, prefects, officials, endowed with absolute power by the Committee, cast upon the shoulders of the innocent Turkish element the entire burden of the unspeakable atrocities."

And the Turkish newspaper "Akam" wrote the following:

"The Ottoman government committed these unspeakable crimes, and for this reason the government bears full responsibility…"

The "Death Marches" of the Greeks, Armenians and Assyrians were one of the most horrific aspects of the Genocide, carried out by the Kemalist forces and the Young Turks.

They found a way to make themselves the most barbarious people in history.

During these marches, thousands of Greeks and Armenians, mainly women, children, and the elderly, were forced to leave their homes and walk for hundreds of kilometers under inhumane conditions, usually through mountains and deserts, with little or no food, water, or shelter. These deportations were ostensibly for "relocation" purposes, but they were in fact designed to lead to mass death through exhaustion, starvation, disease, and exposure.

It was a planned Genocide. Simple as that.

This is how a real Genocide looks like.

That's how the pseudo-nation that is called Turkey was created.

Only 100 years ago.
