Silver price began in 1970 at $1.925 oz
It's now 22¢ oz in New York trading hours
after nearly 51 years of time

Clueless @paulkrugman claims #gold is not rising due to inflation fears but because bond yields are so low. But bond yields are only so low because the Fed is inflating the money supply to buy bonds. So, inflation explains both the fall in bond yields and the rise in gold prices.
@LionelMedia@TGowdySC I don't get your obsession with him. Maybe there is more to it, or maybe he left because he realized nothing is going to happen to anyone tied to team Obama in Russiagate. How could any sane human remain when they no no one on the left will be indicted.
@Kent_Wilson To my eye he has been significantly less dominant/effective as compared to the past few years. It's not just points, but bad reads and gaffes. Maybe the team sees this is wants to lighten his workload? Gustafsson being a relatively lateral move on the PP helps facilitate that?
@BumfOnline I don't recall a player I have ever wanted to succeed more than Bennett. His whole throwback way of playing is just awesome, but I completely agree with you. He is what he is at this point.
As we’ve seen the last 10 years of failed monetary policy, QE and rate cuts do not and will never create economic growth. All they have done is create asset bubbles that have led to the largest income inequality in history.
@10FathomLine@brithume Agree to disagree. They virtually bankrupted a numbers of countries in the union, their banks control many of the collateralized assets and the humanitarian crisis they caused in Italy, Spain and Greece is only getting worse 3 years on.
@10FathomLine@brithume The EU was never going to work. The icing on the cake is Merkel unilaterally opening the floodgates to millions of people without any thought to the ramification to other countries. I'm fond of Germany and the people, but they messed Europe up big time
@10FathomLine@brithume I don't know about that. The most powerful country in that union isn't making a move like that to do anyone a favor, that just doesn't happen. German banks held a ton of debt in Greece, Italy, Portugal, etc. Those countries have been flirting with bankruptcy for a decade...
@10FathomLine@brithume I personally disagree. The EU gave them 500 million people on a common (strong) currency and took them to a whole new level. It solved a huge currency issue for them compared to the deutsche mark. I do think they shoulder a lot of the blame for what befell many Euro economies
@10FathomLine@brithume Your point is well taken, but budget surpluses aren't coming in the near future to the US. Both parties seem to want to spend big on infrastructure and the Trump admin feels like it can take industry back from China. You can't do that with a strong dollar.
@10FathomLine@brithume Those years come on the heels of Germany being the biggest benefactor (and architect) of the creation of the EU as we know it. Look at the shape it left all the other countries around it in. I'll judge Germany's economic situation in a few years as the EU implodes.
