@JayDyer This is kind of the overall spirit of AI in general. Taking shortcuts and cheating. Skipping putting in the work and growth. Sad direction for society to go
@Cult_Film_Fan I'll check it out. There's several Orthodox metal bands out there. Not that familiar but one I know of is a band called Holy Name. I also dig the old solid state record roster of Christian metal like Training for Utopia, Extol, Living Sacrifice, Zao, etc
@Cult_Film_Fan Cool π wasn't shelter and youth of today straight edge? If so, is say straight edge is fairly aligned with the asceticism in the Orthodox church.
@Cult_Film_Fan We fast around 6 months out of the year, and hold to prayer rules. Ofcourse this is done in faith and love and communion with God not just for the sake of doing works. The monks are more hardcore than laity of course. Check out the Philokalia
@Cult_Film_Fan That's awesome. I know who they are. I used to play in punks bands back in the day. I think you will really appreciate the monastic tradition of asceticism in the Orthodox church.
@Cult_Film_Fan yeah, we believe the same thing. we believe that about all the apostles. And we believe they passed down their holy tradition via apostolic succession in an unbroken chain throughout history to present day. Christian doctrine + canon of scripture came out of the Orthodox church
@Cult_Film_Fan There's a band called OM that used to be called Sleep. A member from that band became an Orthodox monk and started an Orthodox zine called Death To The World. Check it out, super cool.
@Cult_Film_Fan we preserve the original teachings on the ascension received from the apostles themselves. Sola Fide is a heretical doctrine invented by Martin Luther 1600 years later. Why would we accept heresy as doctrine from a Reformer who taught directly against scripture and the Church
@Cult_Film_Fan Christ did appear after His Ascension (e.g., to Paul in Acts 9 and to John in Revelation), but not to reveal a new gospel. Paul preached the same faith as the other apostles: "Whether it was I or they, so we preach" (1 Cor. 15:11). There is one Gospel, not two (Gal. 1:8).
@joshwhitlatch@Jpalmtopper You asked where Mary was venerated in scripture.gave you several verses.Luke 1:42β43Elizabeth, filled with the Holy Spirit, venerates Mary:Blessed are you among womenand blessed is the fruit of your womb!.But why is this granted to me,that the mother of my Lord should come to me?
