@_subrossa One of my few gripes with the OG manga was the way Akane’s skill was downplayed over time. The new anime’s choice to constantly remind us how cool & skilled she is makes me really happy.
@Iwanokokyuu The cows seem like a fad.
The frogs often seem like a way to sell botanical art that otherwise gets overlooked. Frogs are something fat & cute that goes well with plants. So they may stick around longer than the cows.
@JMBM145 They say there’s no such thing as bad press, right? What matters is people are talking. Even folks who are mad are saying “but damn it looks great” & end up buying kits.
& if the ending isn’t shit & themes stick the landing, maybe it can be Good Actually as a trilogy on rewatch.
That’s why it is paced like a trilogy of movies rather than a full-length series.
That production quality is ambitious with that runtime. It was smart to start with a theatrical release to help set theatrical expectations for brisk pacing & abridged character development.
Gotta say, the knowledge that GQX was in planning since 2018 has stunned me. I'd have guessed that the whole series had been thought up in about six weeks. But seven years? The blatant problems with having nine episodes after the movie to tell the whole story never occurred?
@JMBM145 Trying to have their cake and eat it too.
Seeing the first chunk in theaters was a blast, and personally I find the pace & abridged development reasonable when I look at it as a trilogy.
But as a series over 12 weeks— we talk more, don’t we?
