A split sequence (maybe) ...
A Day in the Life
feeling bored
morning assembly
sparrows chattering
in the playground
waiting for the bus
sparrows swirl
around the square ...
another leaf falls
piano lessons
sparrow song
under the eaves ...
brahms lullaby
#haiku
rice fields ..
that stretch along dawn's horizon
stooped silhouettes
sowing seedlings, ankle-deep in vermilion waters
- their flooded fields, mimicking the color of god's sky

I cast my net & trawl the day
dawn to dusk for all that touches me
perimeter to core & pole to pole
it may be a cloud a bird a savage death
rain on a wind from the west
faces & minds or a bar of a song
sometimes they just flow on through
sometimes flotsam finds its place in me

brewing storm—
the cat settles
on my full bladder
I believe Lee Gurga of Modern Haiku took this and drew a circle ⭕️
around it. He was Bob Spiess associate editors before the internet craze.
through the greyness
these found-pockets of tattered-light
illuminate a ripple here-&-there
strewn along the grey, sluggish river,
- a weighted-winter, still wading in her March-waters

slanting-in
through the hush of evening,
through the breaks
in the tall-line of cottonwoods,
coppering the tips
of tall spruce & douglas-fir
- September-sunset
floods our stone-steps
lights-up our shaded stoep
.. a white butterfly & I
lost in this moment
