@jmil400 Locals in #Lismore keep their spirits up, their hopes high and work alongside each other, carrying one another through. The strong are leading + making sure nobody is left behind. We now just wish the Government would catch up + lead the recovery rather than leaving it to locals
The Salvation Army Northern Rivers led by Pastor Phil Sutcliffe at the SCU Evacuation Centre pictured with the Mayor of #Lismore Steve Krieg thanking the enormous effort by locals donating food and services The Salvation Army was there in 2017 again in 2022 helping the community.
A BIG THANK YOU to all of the volunteers + local supporters who have from day 1 been there to shoulder the emotional impact of dealing with the #LismoreFlood victims. Digging deep through their own tragedies to be there to care and embrace #Lismore locals they are truly amazing.
Pastor Tim Merritt (Pictured in Blue Shirt with RFS Volunteer) from the Seventh Day Adventist Church leading recovery from Day One. Providing clothes+food items+cooking hot meals+refreshments for the community. Receiving donations to hand out to locals in #Lismore#lismoreFloods
Operators are shutting down walking away from their places of livelihood or dwellings that have now been condemned-Lismore's Council needs more help from an incompetent Government response-We need mitigation, during our 3rd disaster season #Lismore#LismoreFloods@ScottMorrisonMP
This is how many shopfronts in the #Lismore CBD look at the moment. Owners are exhausted and doing their best to remain fed and hydrated in incredibly humid conditions along with the foetid smell left by floodwaters.

Worth nothing the National Centre for Flood Research was established in Lismore after 2017 floods but had to be closed in 2020 after gov reneged on promised funding commitments & then slashed uni funding. Would have been handy now. Hope whatever commitments made now stick better
