@hispanisthull Hispanist was a little gem, always a great experience whenever we got to Hull. Glad we got to go one last time at twixmas and look forward to seeing and hopefully experiencing your next venture wherever and whatever that may be.
“It’s a soft target, isn’t it? If you close libraries, nobody dies – that’s what they think. But what’s happening is it’s society who suffers and people who suffer.” Says Michael Rosen https://t.co/RyNOCEMXkV
We don’t want financial donations, we don’t want alternative funding streams, we don’t want charity and we don’t want volunteers doing work that should be done by Library Workers.
Libraries are a statutory service and should be properly funded.

@hispanisthull Hate that people do this. So little respect. You are too talented to suffer this. Keep the faith. And I hope that next time I'm in Hull I get to revisit.
“Why is it so few new trade deals have been done? Why has there not been the promised bonfire of regulations? The answer is simple. There were no plans. It was a pack of lies.”

I’ll be saying this a lot over the next six weeks. Vote. I don’t care who you vote for. But vote on 4 July. And make sure you can. For the first time in a General Election everyone will need ID. See https://t.co/Yb3VnBdH3T Or apply for a postal vote where ID is not required. Vote
@tds153 See also any celeb travelogue that starts with them saying ' I've always wanted to go to xxx.' If you've always wanted to go, well why haven't you been already?
@thelrm Spent a lot of time walking Pomona, but no access for a long time. Our view over the strand gave us a great view of Peel periodically disseminating it. Think this policy started not long after some rare orchids were found there 🤔. Stopped for a while, but trashed again recently.
Since he turned 16 in 1980 the UK's armed forces have fought in the following conflicts:
The Falklands war
Gulf war
Bosnian war
Kosovo war
Afghanistan war
Iraq war
Boris Johnson failed to sign up to fight in any of them.
The people who once cheered Priti Patel to the rafters are now denouncing France for refusing to increase the Freedom of Movement of British expats there by extending visas to 180 days rather than 90.
But you know what? France is exercising the same sovereignty as everyone else.
I quite liked the state looking after me. They gave me milk, vaccinations against deadly illnesses, they paid for my education, provided libraries where I could read stuff, and gave me a maintainance grant when I went to uni and paid my fees. This is why I vote Labour!
Yesterday, the PM Sunak donated 6 boxes of mince pies to front line workers.
On the same day, the Mayor of Greater Manchester @AndyBurnhamGM donated 15% of his salary to help tackle homelessness, which he does every month.
Compare and contrast....
Just heard the Home Secretary stand up in Parliament and declare that "the British people support the Rwanda plan".
I'm sick of these guys telling me what I support.
I do not support the "Rwanda plan".
If you don't either, please retweet.
