Day 0 - Ankawa. Welcome to the land where kings once ruled, saints once walked, and our ancestors built empires that shaped the world.

For many of us, this is the first time our feet have touched the soil of our homeland - not in dreams, not in stories, but in real life. For others, it's a sacred homecoming... a return to memories, to family, to everything that still lives in the heart.

We landed after a long journey across continents, and even with barely three hours of sleep, we were too wired with excitement to rest. By 7am, we were on the road - chasing the sunrise all the way to Akitu to celebrate the Assyrian-Babylonian New Year, just like our ancestors did.

And trust us: no video, no post, no story can capture what it feels like to be here. You feel it in your bones. You feel it in your soul.

We are building a future where our homeland isn’t just keeping up with the world of technology—it’s leading the way. Through hands-on coding experience, we are equipping the next generation with the skills they need to innovate, create, and shape the digital future.

The Introduction to Computer Programming course taught by Professor Dominic, is a key part of that mission. This course focused on Python, a powerful programming language used to build apps, websites, games, robots, and artificial intelligence. Python’s flexibility and real-world applications make it an essential tool for developers. Students also gained experience with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, the foundation of modern web development.

In partnership with @Khoyada_CSYU Nohadra (Duhok) Branch, 13 students successfully completed the course and earned their certificates. This course is a part of the Nineveh Institute of Technology, a long term Nineveh Rising program aimed at advancing technology in our homeland.

Education is a long-term investment, and thanks to your generosity, we were able to support a new school of little ones with reliable transportation for this entire semester in Sheyoz. Sheyoz is beautiful little village near Simele, where the church has recently invested in expanding educational facilities.

This was made possible through our Christmas fundraiser, in partnership with Hope for Iraqi Christians and Amkabad. Thank you for being part of this journey!
