Honestly, I’m a fan of the idea that the Overlord is the embodiment of the Ninjago realm.

I'm wondering if Dawn is a new elemental essence.
For example, it has many similarities to the Overlord's Essence of Darkness.
We know that the Weapon of Desolation was created from Ras Master essence, which manifested in Episode 20.

It seems that this essence is Dawn — the same Dawn that reigns over the Land of Eternal Dawn, as well as the Dawn found within Ras Master Void.

And Riyu, as one of the main characters of Dragons Rising, could be the MVP of Balance.
This would make him the one who restores Balance to the Merged Lands, because Riyu would become the new Source Dragon of Balance.

What if Riyu is the only one capable of defeating/killing Ras Master for good?
Of course, the Source Dragons are also capable of doing this, but Riyu is one of the main characters of Dragons Rising and could have a much bigger role in the finale.

Ras alone probably couldn’t control a literal god like that.
What if THAT is why he needed the Five?
Ras, wielding the Gong of Shattering, could control the Source Dragon of Motion through the artifact.

The Forbidden Five may have been intended to play a much larger role after the Tournament of Sources.
After creating the Dragon Icons, the next stage of Ras’s plan - controlling the Source Dragons.

And the evil ninja remind me of someone who has been corrupted by Chaos Energy, something similar to the Forbidden Five.

What if the endgame of Chaos Energy is to gain control over the Source Dragons?
And that’s why Ras Master ordered him to free the Five.
Because they were the best at wielding Theroxian magic and harnessing Chaos Energy.

We know that when it comes to Wu’s box, Ras is still using Theroxian magic.
He also specifically recovered the Gong of Shattering and continues to use the Shadow Dojo, where the wolf masks are infused with Chaos Energy.

Perhaps the Forbidden Five were the original tools Ras Master intended to use, while the five evil Ninja are their replacement—much more unpredictable, but capable of serving the same purpose.
