@TheMuppetPastor The words and logic people use to defend abortion aren't words and logic the way we understand them. It's more like the speech of the demons in the anime Frieren.
The meaning doesn't matter. They are just sounds and symbols used to maintain power. There's no actual ideas there.
If I was an Atheist, my moral system would be fully Consequentialist. And it wouldn't be the normie consequentialism where people sand the rough edges with Christian morality.
It would be the true final boss form of Consequentialism. Whatever makes material conditions better.
@Subnautica One suggestion I made was that the base battery should be among the first things you unlock because it pairs with the solar panel.
Currently, by the time you unlock it you've already gotten the turbine, bio-reactor, and thermal generator.
@Ed_In_America@TheMuppetPastor The words "read" and "interpret" are practically synonyms. Any time you see little symbols we call "letters" and translate them into ideas in your head, you are interpretating.
The postmodern innovation is to deny there is any true interpretation, and it's just a sea of opinion.
@AlexanderLotus I had a gf who did something similar. Only I was on the other side of it. She was embarrassed at having hooked up with some guy, so she told me he raped her.
We broke up when she finally, after years, admitted the truth.
@The_Catechumen@sincead33 Second: Sola Scriptura posits (Westminster 1:10) that Scripture is the supreme judge where ALL controversies of religion are to be determined.
So the very existence of an authoritative doctrine which cannot be brought to the Scriptures is anathema to Sola Scriptura.
@The_Catechumen@sincead33 As the originator of the term "canon conundrum" - I think the problem is twofold:
First, It's not enough to say the canon can be probabilistically surmised. You need to have it be a public, authoritative doctrine. Sola Scriptura cannot countenance any real way of making it so.
@JPuncut You would benefit from hearing Fulton Sheen's reflection on the Wedding at Cana.
When Mary insisted that Christ perform a miracle, she was like a mother sending her son out to the battlefield.
@_____case@darwintojesus One could say that today we are deny rights to three-person thruples which we give to two person couples.
Or, as is really the case, there really isn't such a thing as the rights of "couples". Its always been about individuals interacting with the definitions society sets up.
