@tasm_nate My dude, Bowser in this scene is literally a Saturday cartoon mustache twirling villain, it’s not supposed to be Shakespeare-level villain dialogue. It’s supposed to be straightforward and a little cheeky.
Bowser IS the basic, evil bad guy
@CeruleanOshiro Wow, what an assumption.
I thought he did a good job, especially since they established the accent right away in a respectful way
Establishing that he can indeed do the accent, but he’s second generation compared to his family and leans more Brooklyn, along with Luigi
@Nunyabuisness96 @wendofjohnson Plus, the moments where he does break into an Italian-like accent, aren’t jokes anymore, they’re just him speaking normally. The movie accounted for the fact that Mario wouldn’t sound traditionally Italian, but have more of a second generation Brooklyn-Italian tinge
@Nunyabuisness96 @wendofjohnson It’s funny you say that because within the context of the film, that makes no sense. The whole POINT of the commercial is that Mario has an exaggerated Italian accent as an act, but if that’s just his regular voice, that part makes no sense anymore.
@JunoIsLucky @SPG642 What does that line have to do with anything here? Especially since Bowser and DK are essentially the same size. That line is not applicable here at all.
Mario did say that line earlier in the movie, but it was used in an ironic way.
@Yuichi2B Thing is, I feel some people may not even spot something subtle like this when watching it first time. And you can’t rewind when it’s out in the theater
And by then people will put it on the internet anyway, so even if you didn’t catch it, someone will still tell you about it
@PownicMania5000 *Show 1 new camera angle of a scene we already know about, or 1 extra word of dialogue*
Oh my goodness!
I’ve seen the whole movie now!
@CheeseInTheOven @Travingel …and Anya Taylor Joy just did
‘The Menu’
My point was that Anya isn’t all that well known at this point.
There are plenty of more “popular” choices they could’ve went with, the 2 I said were merely just examples.
Jenny Slate
Amy Poehler
Tina Fey
Beyoncé
etc
@Travingel Why cast Anya Taylor Joy then?
To be honestly, I didn’t even know who she was before she was brought up in the cast list.
Why not cast Zendaya as Peach or Lady Gaga or something?
There are other “marketable” celebs out there (The Rock, Tom Holland)
Why specifically Pratt then?
