🇷🇴 ROMANIA’S DEMOCRACY IS UNDER SIEGE

I was on the ground in Romania on election night, standing with then Presidential candidate George Simion as the votes came in and the mood turned from hope to disbelief.

What Simion is warning the world about now is not rhetoric — it is a cry for help.

“They annul elections. They rig elections. They manipulate social networks. We need help to restore democracy.”

This isn’t happening in isolation. It fits a much wider pattern across Europe:

• elections overturned or “corrected” after the fact
• narratives shaped by coordinated information controls
• dissent throttled under the banner of “disinformation”

At the same time, new evidence from the U.S. House Judiciary Committee shows the European Commission has spent years pressuring Big Tech to censor political speech — including American speech — on issues like elections, migration, COVID, and culture.

Closed-door meetings. Global rule changes. Retaliatory fines.

That matters for Romania.

Because when speech is controlled, elections follow.

What I witnessed in Romania felt like democracy slipping through bureaucratic fingers, quietly, efficiently, and with plausible deniability.

No tanks. No coups. Just processes that “somehow” never reflect the will of the people.

This is why Simion’s message matters — not just for Romania, but for every free nation watching Brussels export control beyond its borders.

Romania deserves real elections.

Romanians deserve uncensored debate.

Europe deserves democracy, not management.

The free world should be paying attention — because once democratic choice is treated as a problem to be “fixed,” no country is immune.
