Solar and wind alone cannot end our reliance on fossil fuels
The reasons for this are multifold but the biggest problem, by far, is that the source of energy is not stable.
You cannot say for certain how much energy will be generated in a day.
You are dependent on things beyond your control like cloud-cover, rain, wind-speed etc.
This ambiguity makes it unreliable.
The only solution is to store the excess energy generated on the good days to serve as back-up for the bad days.
Currently this is being done using lithium batteries but their biggest problem is they self-discharge and can only store energy for a few days.
The inability to store the excess energy is wind and solar's biggest stumbling block.
An effective storage solution has not been developed yet.
Until @pne_energy.
The Finnish startup have discovered a unique way to store this energy.
Capturing the excess heat in sand.
Sand can absorb temperatures of 1000℃. Insulated containers are used to keep the sand hot for months.
The heat is then used to deliver hot air and water directly to peoples home.
Polar already has one facility in operation that is currently providing heat and hot water to 100 homes.
They are setting up a facility 10 times bigger than this and are looking to replicate this idea across Finland.
Whilst this may not solve the storage problem, it provides us with another option.
It is going to take a number of these to finally transition away from fossil fuels.

@Biggies_MaIIs The worst part is these are all ex LFC players. Macca, on the pre match panel, said we have a fully fit squad.
We literally have 2 world class and 2 top quality players injured.
@shahaab17 It’s a standing tackle, not a scuffle where they both run together and a series of tackles are made. It’s a single contact after which dibbling does a long jump
@KloppyFPL Wrong analogy. You should double Haalands points cause if he’s in your team, he’s most likely the captain.
Isak or Wood will probably never be captained.

@BlueDart_@BlueDartCares your customer service and customer handling is truly atrocious.
For the last two days there’s a delivery of an iPhone stuck at your Lower Parel centre and not one person has been able to give me a proper feedback on when the delivery will happen.
Every day I’m hearing the same response from your support line that we are checking and it will be done but nothing is moving.
@Apple@AppleSupport I have booked this iPhone directly from your website and for a company that prides itself on customer service, you should really look at who you partner with.
Also the Apple support was of no help whatsoever and were just asking me to check with the courier.
In Kerala, the government has historically been communist so they control all utilities and thus are able to feed themselves comfortably without having to cheay on basic infrastructure.
In Maharashtra, it’s a capitalist form of government where a lot of utilities are privatised. This makes them skimp at every opportunity.
In Kerala, growth of private entities is compromised so there is a trade off unfortunately.
This is just a possible explanation and in no way accepting the state of affairs. Our roads have to get better and businesses have to do better in Kerala.
Both governments are failing.
@blainder971@SukumaIcon The point I was making fans of other clubs don’t have any affinity to city. They would rather see them win than any other not because they like them but because they don’t care
There are biases all around. All I’m saying is the bias is not because they’re jealous of Artetas success which firstly is yet to be proven. Unlike a player, a manager is sadly judged on trophies.
Liverpool has been at the receiving end of this kind of treatment for years.
But to put this to bed I think we can all agree that City are cheats 😂
The point being made is that pundits are biased because they’re jealous of arteta which makes no sense.
Arteta wasn’t originally from England so yes, he came to a more widely watched league to get exposure.
I’ve seen some horrid takes from ex-arsenal players like Adams too. Everyone’s biased to the team they’ve played for/support. Let’s leave it at that is my point.
@MeDummyDummy@cagiago_ Famous F1 driver who was a gifted racer but didn’t car much for the stats and accolades. Beat Lauda in the only season he was serious.
@MindExcavator In India, especially when it comes to financial crime, all are viewed as criminals unless they prove themselves innocent. The law-abiding 99% get thrown in with 1% when the 1% is actually capable of breaking whatever law you try to nab them with.
