Three UPSC attempts. Three Prelims failures.
For someone who had topped classrooms all her life, that was a difficult reality to accept.
📚 Devangi Meena grew up in Madhya Pradesh, studied at DPS NFL Vijaypur, graduated from Miranda House, completed her Master's from Delhi School of Economics, and even cleared NET-JRF.
On paper, everything looked perfect.
But UPSC had other plans.
❌ First attempt: Failed Prelims.
❌ Second attempt: Failed Prelims.
❌ Third attempt: Failed Prelims.
As the failures piled up, so did the opinions. Comparisons began. Doubts grew louder. Some even told her parents that school toppers don't always succeed in life.
For the first time, Devangi faced something she had never experienced before — repeated failure.
Then came a bold decision.
Instead of rushing into preparation again, she took a six-month break from studies. Not to quit, but to understand what was holding her back.
And she found the answer.
The problem wasn't knowledge.
It was fear.
⚡ Every Prelims paper carried pressure, anxiety, and self-doubt. So she decided to train herself for pressure. Daily tests. Daily rankings. Daily evaluation.
She practised until pressure stopped feeling unfamiliar.
The results followed.
✅ Cleared Prelims with 108 marks.
✅ Cleared again with 102 marks.
✅ Entered the Indian Civil Accounts Service.
But she wasn't finished yet.
While undergoing training, she gave UPSC one more attempt. This time, she improved her Geography Optional score from 223 to 286.
🏆 Final Result: AIR 236, UPSC CSE 2025.
Her message:
"The examination should not define your life. The human aspect of you should never be forgotten."
Sometimes success comes not from studying harder, but from understanding yourself better.
