This system of devolution (Previously known as the Gadgil formula) has been in existence since the year Smt @KanimozhiDMK’s father, Thiru Karunanidhi, became the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu for the first time but has realised its existence only now. Sad!

It was very much in existence even while DMK was in power in the recent past in the Centre between 2004 and 2014, but the devolution of taxes increased from 29.5% to 30.5% and later to just 32%. No Concrete measures were implemented to improve the State’s capabilities to increase its tax revenues.

As per the 2012-13 BE, the tax devolution to TN was ₹15,032 Crores & ₹59,528 Crores to UP. It was in similar lines all through the 10 years. Did powerful ministries in the centre and the free pass to loot keep you silent back then? (In 2022-23, TN received ₹38,783 as tax devolution)

After 2014, the devolution has not just increased to 42%, the overall transfer of Central taxes to states has also increased phenomenally, and the devolution formula has been augmented to reward states with good governance & the weightage for population has been brought down.

Comparing 2004-14, TN has received 2.6 times more devolution of taxes and 3.9 times more grants from the centre in just 9 years under the leadership of our Hon PM Thiru @narendramodi avl. TN has received over ₹10.76 lakh crore in the last decade (devolution+grants+central govt development projects); this is twice the amount of taxes contributed by TN in the same period.

Now that your hypocrisy is exposed, would you care to explain why Thiru Karunanidhi laid the red carpet to the PM who implemented the tax devolution formula which you have complaints about today?
