I’ve seen some people say “there is no vtuber community” in response to this video. Feel like that’s only half-true. Vtubing has multiple communities with some only interested in Hololive, some liking exclusively indies, some being vtubers themselves, etc. but the overall “vtubing community” is evident from looking at your timeline and seeing trends like “vtuber vs irl” or any other trend that happens. And with the amount of vtubers that look at the bigger named people and use their ideas or design as an influence for their own content shows an interconnectedness that is really only seen in communities like vtubing.

I think vtubing has a multitude of problems resulting in the space becoming unbearable at times; many being points brought up in this video. But that is only the tip of the iceberg. The normalization of bad actors scamming vtubers big and small, google docs for nonissues, many being “woe is me” about their size despite not streaming or posting clips on any platform for 6 months, artists never getting back to clients with promised commissions, sexpests, sycophants, and much much more.

If you are sick of the vtubing community because of the actions taking place in this community while engaging in that same behavior yourself, then shut the fuck up and make the change to get rid of it. This isn’t about ostracizing people or kicking people out of the community, but putting in effort to change the space you like for the better by starting with yourself. Dont engage with the bad actors; let them shout into the void. Complaining about the community and the people in it will do nothing if action is not followed up.
