@Flawsy6 4 months old cat would still be considered a kitten but the cat would be around 4 years old.
Meaning that if your mom would like a "mature" cat it would be good to search for something that's at least 10 months old since a 1 year old cat is considered a junior

@Flawsy6 Also chubby is cool and all but if too chubby it can cause some problems with the cats health. Tho I don't think that a bit more chubby structure is a cause for concern

From what I know the ratio is like 1:7 but the first 2 years it's much more quicker for a cat to grow up.
3 to 11 years is an adult cat and anything above 11 is equal to a senior.
Tho I agree that good care makes the difference
