We are indigenously Tuluvas and just because Tulunaad included in the state concept of Karnataka I can't be a Kannadiga. I belong to Karnataka but would like to remain as Tuluva.

ಐತಿಹಾಸಿಕ ಹಾಗೂ ಸಾಂಸ್ಕೃತಿಕ ಅಸ್ಮಿತೆಯ ತುಳು ಭಾಷೆಯನ್ನು ಭಾರತ ಸಂವಿಧಾನದ 8ನೆಯ ಪರಿಚ್ಛೇದಕ್ಕೆ ಸೇರಿಸುವುದು ತುಳು ಭಾಷೆಯ, ಭಾಷಿಕರ ಸಂಸ್ಕೃತಿ ಹಾಗೂ ಸಾಂಸ್ಕೃತಿಕ ಅಸ್ಮಿತೆಯನ್ನು ಬೆಳೆಸುವಲ್ಲಿ ಹಾಗೆಯೇ ಇದು ತುಳು ಲಿಪಿಯ ಪುನರುತ್ಥಾನದಲ್ಲಿಯೂ ಪ್ರಮುಖ ಪ��ತ್ರ ವಹಿಸಲಿದೆ.

ಹದಿನೈದನೆಯ ಶತಮಾನದವರೆಗೆ ತನ್ನ ಸ್ವಂತ ಲಿಪಿಯನ್ನು ಹೊಂದಿದ್ದ ಭಾಷೆ ತುಳು. 19 ಲಕ್ಷಕ್ಕೂ ಅಧಿಕ ತುಳು ಮಾತೃಭಾಷಿಕರು ಆಡುವ ಹಾಗೂ ಮುಖ್ಯವಾಗಿ ದಕ್ಷಿಣ ಕನ್ನಡ,ಉಡುಪಿ, ಕಾಸರಗೋಡು ಜಿಲ್ಲೆಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಮತ್ತು ಮಡಿಕೇರಿ, ಚಿಕ್ಕಮಗಳೂರು, ಶಿವಮೊಗ್ಗ ಜಿಲ್ಲೆಯ ಕೆಲ ಭಾಗಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ವ್ಯವಹಾರದ ಭಾಷೆಯಾಗಿ ಬಳಸಲ್ಪಡುವ ಭಾಷೆ ತುಳು.
