Before spreading a canard, @Jairam_Ramesh ji, please consider this:
1. Merchant Discount Rate (MDR) applies only on the merchants and not on the end users/customers. It will support the Banks & Fintech to invest more on infrastructure, innovation & security. All users of UPI will reap the benefits of this investment.
2. ⁠More importantly, the UPI and Services Steering Committee headed by NPCI is yet to decide on the MDR. This will happen after the Parliament passes the Taxation and Other Laws (Amendment) Bill, 2026, which propses to amend Section 10A of the Payment and Settlement Systems Act, 2007.
3. All this could have been discussed on the floor of the House if your party @INCIndia engages constructively in Parliament when the Bill was/is tabled. (LS/RS respectively)

This 29th August, at Ather Community Day, we’ll be launching our mass-market scooter built on our brand new scooter platform.

We have been patiently investing in the building blocks of what makes a good scooter for years now. Pioneering a lot of architectures and tech. Sometimes ahead of time, sometimes packaged as an early adopter thing.

A decade in, EV 2Ws are ready to now move beyond that stage now. The tech is ready for everybody, the features are becoming relevant for all. Not early adopters - but truly mainstream.

EVs now need to solve for a customer across the entire spectrum: from resale price, to servicing time, from comfort on potholed roads, to avoiding those potholes in the first place, from ease of charging, to super fast charging, from visible safety that your parents can touch & feel and be confident about, to the invisible safety borne out of a decade long work on software.
