@crimewatchzw asi zvinorovesa here? need help guys cz if you guys are already in a relationship at least there should be a common interest on what you all want out of the relationship if not one can always decline to a proposal in a loving and respectful manner.......my thoughts.
South Africa took Israel to the International Court of Justice and almost all Western news networks didnโt cover the South African presentation live, but they all covered the Israeli presentation the next day in real time.
As a journalist who was trained both in Zimbabwe and in the West, I wasnโt surprised by this at all.
Israel is a Western creation and project, it is their common interest.
Most African leaders always complain about how they are projected in the Western media, yet they do the same to their people, they are hypocrites!
One Government that complains about Western media is the ZANUPF regime in Zimbabwe, yet it has embarrassingly made Zimbabwe the only country in Africa not at war with only ONE Television station.
Zimbabwe was the first country together with Nigeria to have television in Subsaharan Africa, today Nigeria has over 100 Television stations, Zimbabwe only has ONE which is owned and controlled by the State.
It is their propaganda megaphone which nobody sane believes in anymore, its propaganda is not only crude, it is also unprofessionally packaged, a High school television station in London produces more polished content than the Zimbabwe Broadcasting Corporationโs Television division.
At most it operates with a few cameras, at times journalists have to share just one camera in the whole new division.
The regime loots public funds to the extend of failing to equip their own propaganda channel.
A basic television camera costs US$2000.
More importantly, what we learnt from The Hague is the importance of global media and competent media personnel.
Western media deployed their resources to cover their interests, the Arabs had Al Jazeera, the Chinese had their own CCTV.
At least South Africa has SABC, but it is only available in less than 20 African countries via DsTV.
Africans MUST have their own international Television channel that covers Africa in the way we want it covered.
It doesnโt cost huge amounts of money to get it done, but we are led by men and a few women with NO vision or understanding of how the world works.
Israel is winning the propaganda war because its allies own the media and the international narrative.
If the world didnโt have Al Jazeera, we wouldnโt have known most of the things we know today about the Gaza genocide which Western countries refuse to call a genocide.
Al Jazeera is a product and brainchild of the late Qatarese ruler, Amir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, the father of the current ruler.
He saw that the Arab view was always presented in Western tinted lenses, so Al Jazeera became the platform for Arab views.
But more importantly, it became a professional alternative to Western media when it launched Al Jazeera English, which is now the global flagship option for news.
Without his vision, the world would not have watched South Africa presenting its case, but it would have watched Israel presenting its case and most people would have formed their views without watching the other side.
This is how Zimbabweans are treated by the present Government, and that is how it has treated them for 43 years refusing to allow other terrestrial television stations because it wants them to stay ignorant of the truth.
Thankfully the internet has outfoxed dictators like we have in Harare, but sadly, not everyone has access to the internet, and not everyone can afford satellite television.
The significance of media diversity in shaping perspectives is very important. The role of international news channels like Al Jazeera in providing an alternative viewpoint has been important in presenting a more comprehensive understanding of global events.
Media control and limited access to information are part of the fight for media freedom and its impact on public awareness.
Africa has lost billions of dollars because it has no international media outlet to sell itself, the closest it gets is SABC, but it is not global, and it has no requisite funding for various reasons.
