@loiskolkhorst Please get us a definitive answer or ask @GovAbbott to #VETOHB547 before it is too late and homeschoolers are inadvertently locked out of 4-H
@GovAbbott#HB547 is not an equal access bill because it allows a district to choose/deny access to a private school student.
Secondly, this bill is blatantly discriminatory toward disabled and special needs students who are not part of the public school system. #veto
@OfficialATPE#HB547 is not "apples to appples" as its #txlege Senate sponsor says. Home-schooled students can take whatever test their parents choose (ISDs cannot verify results), can't be suspended for failing grades, can't be forced to comply w/ #txed attendance & other UIL rules.
@thsc this is an excerpt from the op-Ed you wrote bashing homeschoolers who oppose #HB547 , if you’re aware of the gov’t schools trying to keep control, why are you pushing bills that can potentially bring them to our doorstep. #cognitivedissonance
Which #txed school district will be the first one sued for denying "equal access" to a home-school student under this allegedly "permissive" UIL bill? Taxpayers will have to pay to defend that, too. #HB547#txlege
And the #txlege Senate has just voted to advance another bad bill, #HB547 allowing UIL participation by home-schoolers despite their being held to different (and unenforceable) standards than #txed public ed students. Bill passed to third reading by a vote of 16-14.
@swampgirl70 @DasCHESpartans@TrueTXProject Sorry! Life was is session and we got here as fast as we could. Be sure to check out @TX4HSFREEDOM over on Facebook for lots of content.
@GregAbbott_TX, please VETO HB547 if it gets to your desk. Most Texas homeschoolers don’t want this Bill with those amendments and the can of worms it is opening. #txlege#No2Tebow#HB547
