First to speak are residents who live within a 2 mile radius of Entergy’s gas plant. The room is packed at the LDEQ Mary Queen of Vietnam Church. Entergy, would you build a gas plant in CEO Leo Denault’s neighborhood?
DEQ let Entergy give a presentation on its gas plant to the room. Then DEQ told community members that they cannot stand to show who is against the facility. DEQ told people they cannot raise their hands.
Entergy up here at this DEQ meeting claiming the gas plant will help make New Orleans more renewable. 🧐 That’s a new one Entergy. #NoGasPlant#100RenewableNOLA
Follow this thread for today’s presentations @ city council “Resilient New Orleans: Opportinities for Solar + Storage” #RRPS#EFNO. These presentations will help make the case for why we need a 100% Renewable Portfolio Standard in NOLA!
Councilmember At Large @RunWithJason questions battery storage expert about cost.
If it’s less than a $900 million gas plant & doesn’t pollute neighborhoods...is this a tough choice?
Entergy’s shareholders foot the bill for Entergy’s imprudent decisions, not us.
“If you can avoid building a power plant—that’s expensive—you save that [by using battery storage]”
Understatement of the day. Keep telling your Councilmembers that we won’t pay for Entergy’s gas plant. Entergy’s shareholders get to foot that bill. #NoGasPlant
One of the big issues in the gas plant fight has been that no alternative analysis were completed. @All4Energy organized a presentation on solar and battery storage for the @NOLACityCouncil. Can we embrace the future and free New Orleans from being locked into expensive bills?
