The Iran War Powers Resolution *PASSES* 215-208 in the House with four Republicans joining Democrats: Massie, Davidson, Barrett, and Fitzpatrick.

Thank you to everyone who called and wrote their Members of Congress (including the nearly 150,000 letters to Congress from @MPower_Change members) urging passage of the Iran War Powers Resolution to end Trump's illegal and disastrous war on Iran.

Utterly disgusted with the Senate that just voted against (47-52) Sens. @timkaine & @RandPaul's bipartisan War Powers Resolution to block further unauthorized U.S. attacks on Iran, and to end the U.S.'s illegal regime change war in Iran. 

Make no mistake: The American people DO NOT support this illegal war of choice with Iran even though a number of Republicans tonight who had previously supported war powers measures in the past voted 'No' on the Kaine-Paul WPR for partisan reasons to back Trump's catastrophic and unauthorized war.

That's cowardly and disqualifying. It also goes against the Constitution and the wishes of the American people by not voting to end this unconstitutional regime change war, and prohibit further unauthorized attacks on Iran. Leqaa Kordia has spent nearly a year in an ICE prison for exercising her First Amendment rights in NYC & speaking out against the ongoing genocide in Palestine.

She was hospitalized after suffering a seizure. Now she's back in detention.

Today, I led a letter with @RepDonBeyer and @Ilhan - signed by 58 House Democrats - demanding answers & accountability on Trump's expanded, racist travel ban.

Because of Trump's ban, over 60% of the countries in Africa and 20% of all countries worldwide are now fully or partially banned from the U.S. Families will be needlessly separated & our economy will suffer.

ICE arrested our beloved professor Vahid Abedini.

He is Farzaneh Family Assistant Prof of Iranian Studies at the University of Oklahoma's @OklahomaU's Boren College of International Studies @oucis

Dr. Abedini was boarding a flight on his way to attend the Middle East Studies Association (@MESA_1966) in Washington DC when he was detained and put to jail. Nov 22.

He has been wrongfully detained because he has a valid H-1B visa —a non-immigrant work visa granted to individuals in “specialty occupations,” including higher education faculty.

We are praying for his swift release.
