I had the pleasure of living with @OfficialBoaster back at the time of Valorant’s release. I knew straight away, that he was going to win a trophy in this game. Here’s why: Back in summer 2020, myself and Jake were living in the Excel houses. League players had gone home for the offseason break and it was quite quiet. Jake was a vlogger for excel but had shared regular ambitions of being a pro player (having been a semi-pro in CS). He was currently grinding to be Excel’s LEC sub and required Diamond 3 to do this (a goal we had set him after he stated wanting to do more than vlog). In the space of a month of starting, he was diamond, having never played League before, and I saw incredibly unique audio and visual training techniques utilised by himself to improve and grow so fast. It was impressive. At this time, Valorant hype was building and the game hit release date. Jake had already stated that this was ‘his game’ to me. As with everyone I knew, we were all checking out and grinding valorant from when it was first available, but Jake approached it differently. I remember walking downstairs the next day, and there was a full whiteboard in his room, with a fully broken down schedule of how he would practice each week. Between hours dedicated to theory crafting, pure shooting practice in the bot range (genuinely – just hours upon hours in the val aimlab), researching other aspiring pros videos on youtube etc. So much more than just soloq grinding. There was a notepad next to him always FULL of notes of work available, and he was setting himself constant goals that were added to the board. This was all alongside him doing his vlogger work for excel (in which he filmed and fully edited the videos himself). I saw him then note the need to raise his status in this game socially to increase opportunity (plus he just loved making content), and so he started posting fully edited valorant videos to his youtube also. So this guy was doing a full time job, a side youtube channel fully edited by himself AND hitting a serious grind on valorant. What more can be said… Talent is important, but nothing replaces hard work and MY WORD have I never seen someone work harder to achieve their personal dreams. It was the willingness not just to grind, but to be creative in approaching ‘how he could improve’ to make him the best. New patches were an ‘excitement’ so him when to other pros not often the case. He was always seeking to find all the little ways he could outplay another team. From Day 1, being the best meant more than just shooting, it mean seeing the game in a way nobody else could – so he already knew he would need to be an IGL. He set the highest level of expectation in himself, and he reached that summit through his dedication, hard work and discipline. He was an absolute pleasure to live with, alongside @YinsuCollins who was so incredibly dedicated in supporting him and deserves so much credit also. Ignoring me eating far too many of the brownies they always made, they were just honestly always the happiest most positive people to be around. Jake deserves everything that’s come to him, and I’m just so incredibly happy to see him achieve it all. I’ve never seen anyone work harder for this…

POKALSIEGER 🏆 Seit 2015 bin ich Teil der höchsten deutschen Liga und mit meiner erstmal letzten Chance habe ich es auch endlich geschafft, in Deutschland nen Titel zu holen. Trotzdem habe ich heute sehr gemischte Gefühle, weil es unser letztes Spiel zusammen war. (1/4)
