Democrats, I say this with love, as much as I can muster.
You need to get your shit together. You need to recruit moderate candidates who are appealing and can run a competent campaign.
The DSA is running circles around you, and they are taking over your party from within.
At Father’s Day dinner tonight my dad told us that one of his restaurants had been broken into the last four nights in a row. The perpetrators took mostly beer—bottled and tap—and broke some windows. He went to report it, but was told it looked like it done by homeless, and the city doesn’t report petty thefts by homeless. (Crime is down!)
Hope the Bass/Raman voters enjoy their free beer 🍺.
As the Boyle Heights warehouse fire reaches its fifth day, it’s an enormous reminder that fire doesn’t care about politics, excuses, or narratives. You CAN’T FIX a problem you refuse to acknowledge.
Preparedness matters. Infrastructure matters. Resources matter.
The lesson isn’t complicated. Los Angeles needs to be better prepared before the next emergency, not after it.
In the Palisades our Governor and Mayor took no accountability. They pointed to hurricane force winds (that didn’t exist) according to tens of weather stations, climate change, acts of God. There was no accountability on empty reservoirs, 40% of fire apparatus down, fireteam sent home, no preparedness, limited plan, brush not cleared and Mayor and deputy Mayor gone. With no accountability, no lessons learned. And here we are again. A fire in day 5. What will the excuse be this time in Boyle Heights? Will there be no lessons learned once again?
I have a HEALTHY DISTRUST of this leadership team regarding fires and their approach. Perhaps this time, even without lessons learned from the Palisades, they will do better. I certainly hope so.
But we all know. Hope is not a plan.
Here’s to the health and wellbeing of the people in Boyle Heights and the area.

The fact the LAPD is putting out press releases about the dog it shot
and not bodycam videos
is a great indicator that the bodycam vids do not match up with their alibi that the pet attacked the cop.
Also: as @FilmThePoliceLA notes, the chief doesn’t put out things like this when his cops kill humans.
Perhaps this will be a precedent for gunned down living creatures no matter their species.
So in the past two days, police have murdered

A dog comes running at you and your first instinct is to shoot out of fear for you life? You should not be a police officer. If you're that timid, this is not the line of work for you.
The LA County Board of Supervisors’ policies for landlords in unincorporated areas are stripping away basic property rights. A tenant in a 2-bedroom unit paying $1,900/month can withhold rent for months, and the landlord cannot even issue a 3-day notice until the unpaid balance exceeds the $5806 threshold. In practice, that can mean over 4 months of missed rent before action is allowed. Many property owners see this as government-sanctioned theft of their rights and income."
Amazon's Ring is facing a class-action lawsuit that alleges their "Familiar Faces" feature collects and stores biometric faceprints from visitors and bystanders without consent.
So basically, you don't ever have to own a Ring camera to be surveilled by one.
Our neighbors' doorbells are converting our faces, our movements, and anything we do into data for Amazon to harvest.
This is easily one of the largest civilian surveillance networks humanity has ever seen.
Welcome to our new perverted dystopia where the physical spaces in our communities have become one big surveillance dragnet.
Home Depot: The only place where buying a light bulb gets your face scanned like your a suspect and your car's plates tracked like a fugitive.

Flock cameras in the lot = hard pass.
Boycott Home Depot. Vote with your wallet.
Brad Paisley urges his followers to sign a petition to stop the construction of a 69,000-square-foot data center that would be 50 yards from the Nashville Zoo, which he called “an absolute nightmare scenario” in an Instagram Reel. https://t.co/EmxKUw5oav
As someone who grew up with severely disabled siblings, if you want to abort your disabled child, I think that's fine. If you don't want to abort your disabled child, I think that's fine, too. What bothers me is people who have no experience on this weighing in like they have the slightest clue what they're talking about.
