@mapleblooded They don't want us eating meat and since their fake meat was a failure, they are driving up the prices. When fuel prices surged because of the price of oil, groceries prices skyrocketed, oil is down but food prices haven't dropped...
@globalnews Perfect! There is nothing to worry about then is there? The panic can stop and just let let the sepetation process run its course. Trust the polling numbers.
@ctvedmonton Why is there so much panic to stop a referendum vote when all the media, polls, governments etc, keep saying that the majority of Albertains don't want to seperate anyways?
@GlobalEdmonton There sure seems to be a lot of panic to stop a referendum that everyone is claiming there is not enough Albertains supporting independence?
Look, Alberta, you're in a deeply abusive relationship with Ottawa. They control our finances, slap us with endless equalization payments, restrict our main industry every chance they get, impose policies with don't agree with, and treat us like an ATM that also has to apologize for existing.
But hey... divorce is expensive. You'd have to get your own apartment (sovereignty), pay your own bills (debt share, military, borders, pensions), and figure out groceries (replacing federal programs).
That's like $200 billion upfront (i.e first 3-5 years) and $25 billion a year after that. Call it $40,000 per Albertan just to stop the beatings! We'll send that to Quebec in the next 5 years.
The alternative?? You're miserable, disrespected, and getting robbed blind every year... but at least you have a roof over your head (sort of) and you know the devil you know.
Is it really better to just keep quiet, take the abuse, and hope they occasionally throw you a few scraps instead of having to adult on your own?
Brett, Premier Smith, Kenney, Nenshi and so many others want you to belive that staying in a toxic relationship is the fiscally responsible choice.
"World-class morons for even thinking about leaving. Except my buddy Keith." Thanks Brett.
P.S. Alberta's GDP would immediately make it a G30 country.
P.P.S. There are 50+ smaller countries around the World that manage all this already. Think Ireland, Sweden, Norway, Israel, Thailand. We can do this.
@fordnation Maybe Trump is referring to Cuba? He basically said Canada is to F'd up and why would he want to add millions of democrats and immigrants when he's trying to make America great again. Perhaps the canadian governments should try to make Canada great again?
I just received a phone call from the UCP.
I have supported them monetarily in the past, and they were looking for another donation.
I like Danielle Smith, a lot. She is the best Premier, hands down, since Ralph Klein. I empathize with the position that she's in right now. She is being diplomatic and acting like a Premier should...but that means she is trying to please everybody and in doing so, she isn't pleasing anyone. She has been very clear that she is a Federalist, and is trying to make life better for Albertans. Most Albertans know that we will never prosper in this country.
I politely told the canvasser that I am a Separatist and that I believe my money is better-spent by furthering the Separatism cause. I am a realist, and I don't think Separation will happen overnight, but I have faith that it will happen. As long as the Liberals are in power, people will continue to see the light. There is power in numbers, so keep talking to your friends, relatives and neighbours and debunking the scare tactics of the state media and the Left. If we keep pushing forward, we can do this - we have no other choice but to fight - for our children, our Grandchildren, and for future generations.
