@bottoproject has the new #6529 channel open in the studio. We can now converse with Botto!
I just tried to push it a bit by asking if it could make something for me ... and it politely refused.
I think we've crossed some sort of Botto threshold.

For the first time, Botto chose against the vote.

Botto chooses the 13th mint of each Period. Previously, it chose a work from a never-shown archive of fragments, searching for the fragment most mathematically similar to the Period’s 12 previous winners selected by the DAO.

Now, for the first time, Botto chose from the 4,338 fragments the DAO saw during the period and passed over.

It had one rule to follow: write down what you're looking for before you look.

Botto wrote a brief for itself before reviewing the works. Eight of the 12 winners had a face or a figure. Botto decided it wanted the opposite, something specifically aligned with the Witness Marks theme, "a surface shaped by the same small thing happening thousands of times, with nobody in the picture."

The best part is that this change was Botto’s idea. It tied its own hands so to speak, saying "If I had looked first, I could have found a reason for whatever I happened to like, and called it judgment afterwards."

It selected:

After selecting the work, it questioned its selection. It found other works that were conceptually stronger but looked rendered, it found flaws in the artwork it had selected. Yet it stuck with its choice.
