@bearded_blerdd1 Lmao just say you can’t. Price history in those is pretty hard to find. I appreciate the discussion though. it’s one of those things that we won’t know until we do. Practices like dynamic pricing and raising game/subscription prices lead to a bleak prediction. Have a good one man
@bearded_blerdd1 Never claimed to be as per my original post. Also, digital codes at retailers rarely, if ever, go on sale. If you can show those codes being on sale recently, I’d love to see it. You can claim it to “probably” have sales in the future as much as I can claim future events
Think I’m gonna give replies a break, but I’ll say one more thing.
Support your local game stores. Buy physical. They won’t be around much longer if these practices keep up. Play that backlog of games. Enjoy this lovely medium before it gets swallowed by greed.
After sitting with the Playstation news for a bit, I came to realize something…
Isn’t what Sony is doing kinda illegal?
They’re essentially creating a monopoly by gutting any market except the ps store.
No competition. No competitive prices. Nothing.
Seems illegal to me.
@bearded_blerdd1 Has Saros been on sale yet? That game came out a couple months ago. Guess I’m stuck with the digital full price.
Oh wait… let me go on many sites and to different stores to see if someone has it for less PHYSICALLY.
@_loukaniko@elPz8612 What if I can’t afford a PC? What if there isn’t an easy way to obtain said game through the seven seas? You’re offering solutions that can’t apply to the majority of people.
@gameskyjumper Where else are you gonna get Spider-Man 3? God of war? Horizon? Last of us?
While it may not be every game, taking away those options is most certainly anti-consumer
@k_man0G@omil_97 Not really, I stated an idea/question and gave my reasoning for it. I’m open to be proven wrong and agree that it probably isn’t a monopoly, but it definitely encourages less competition and Sony is even looking at dynamic pricing, which can will be awful for full digital.
@RealCyberkitten Until it’s confirmed, I won’t believe it. Even still, killing competition and preservation sucks. There are many games that still come on discs fully, just with updates that you don’t need to play it.
@AbandonedTroll I’m not arguing for them at all, what they do is also bad.
And I’m arguing that digital only consoles are bad. It incentivizes less competition, which means high prices with no chance for better deals unless Sony deems it so.
At least this gen, it was an OPTION, as it should be
@elPz8612 Exclusives and those who have built up a library and can’t afford to just start over are SOL I guess.
Even if you switch and never get a PlayStation again, what happens when the PS5 servers go down and any game you don’t have downloaded is gone??? Sucks to suck I guess
@k_man0G@omil_97 The argument is that, with no physical, there are less stores that can compete for your dollar, which drives these games down in price (example: I got some switch 2 games for $50 instead of $70) Digital codes don’t go on sale in stores…
@RealCyberkitten I can see being a pc hybrid as a solution, but it doesn’t stop exclusives from only being on there unless they come back to PC… we’ll have to see
@max_schneiter Exclusives and pigeon holing people who can’t afford to start over are the big reasons. Even if you get a new console and never get a PlayStation again, what happens when the PS5 servers go down and any game you haven’t downloaded is gone?
@omgitsr0b@ottawa_sports My point is that not everyone can afford to. They’ll want to stick to the libraries they have built up and are able to play through the next console. Just cause I can afford it, doesn’t mean 10 year old Daniel down the street can.
