GREAT day today at the @IWI_UofT 1st annual student symposium!!! 17 great student talks and an awesome keynote from Dr. Ted Mao. Congrats to presentation winners Noel Devaere, Mitchell Zak, and Wenxi Liao (L -> R)!
@MaryamFashandi Great question. The frequency of membrane changing will depend on the nature of the waste stream. We currently target mining and metal processing so the acidity poses a threat to long term operation; however, there is essentially no microbial activity. A topic for future study!
How to improve water sustainability with a thin sheet of polymer, some salty water, and a chiller? #UTERCposter2020#UTERCWater (Pause the video if you want a closer look)
@Sam_Cheung_ In terms of how it works, when salt water freezes it forms a solid pure ice phase with a more concentrated salt water phase (think glaciers on ocean). Then you remove the ice and melt it (using any waste heat stream ideally) and use the melted water as is.
@Sam_Cheung_ Great question, the enthalpy of freezing is ~7 times less than the enthalpy of vaporization for water. The operating temperature can be around -10 to -20°C so if you exploit Canadian winters it has the potential to use very little energy!
"Happiness is a fresh bucket of wastewater." Noel Devaere (ChemEng & Mgmt V) works with Kurt/Marié to develop new engineered geotextiles. As seen here at the @cityofhamilton Woodward WWTP, these materials can be used to dewater various waste products. @Mac_ChemEng@McMasterEng
@quadhund@JeremyECrawford@mikemearls I agree with you; however, in a previous clarification tweet about find steed, it was said that: "A spell that targets only you is one that has a range of self and has no area of effect parenthetical". M's MM only says self in the range...
@JeremyECrawford@mikemearls Does a Paladin's Find Steed or Find Greater Steed spell also get the get the effects of Melf's Minute Meteors? By that I mean its own set of 6 meteors that the steed can fire off as a bonus action?
