"We do need a compassionate response, but there has been absolutely no common sense from this government," says Peadar Tóibín.

A member of the @griptmedia team in Newtownmountkennedy this evening, having clearly, audibly, and repeatedly identified herself as a journalist, and while posing absolutely no threat to public order or public safety, was nevertheless pepper sprayed directly in the face by a member of An Garda Siochána. We have footage of this incident and will publish it shortly.
In my view, the footage clearly records an illegal assault on a member of our team, and will result in a formal complaint to GSOC, and whatever other action we deem appropriate.
