To our many Cambodian people who have been sending DMs with the repeated message, "Don't Thai to me,"

We would like to share something with you. There are so many Cambodians who come to work in Thailand, and we truly welcome them. We live together as equals. We have found that we are all not so different from one another, and that many of you are incredibly kind, lovely, and friendly people.

As a Thai person, I want to share that we are generally easy-going and kind-hearted. We tend to be straightforward—what we say is what we mean. We welcome everyone, respect their rights, and see people as friends, siblings, and family.

Of course, we're not saying every Thai person is perfect, but the majority of us are like this. And so, we would like to say to our Cambodian friends:

Please, communicate with us directly and openly. Please, let's respect each other's rights. Please, let's not slander one another. Please, let's talk to each other with friendship and goodwill.

And we want to say,
"Please Thai to me."

Right now, Thailand and Cambodia are defaming one another - sometimes with truths, often with fabrications. But baseless hate speech helps no one. It only deepens division and drives us further from peace. And in the end, it’s the people on the front lines, the innocent civilians of both countries, who pay the price.

Both nations must hold their leaders accountable and reject violence, not excuse or justify it.

Negotiation is essential to resolve this conflict before more lives are lost. In a time like this, when fear, instability, rage, and raw emotion run high, it’s more important than ever to use สติ (mindfulness and discernment) in everything we consume and share. This goes far beyond headlines. Real lives are being lost.

My deepest condolences to those who have lost their lives, and to the families and communities shattered by this violence. No one should ever have to suffer like this. Let us not allow misinformation to add more fuel to the fire.
