A 29-year-old Ethiopian national has been arrested for the alleged murder of a 26-year-old man following a fatal stabbing at Magogoe Tshepang Village in the North West.

The incident occurred at about 16:30 on Wednesday, 1 July 2026, during an alleged altercation in which the victim was stabbed with a sharp object. He was taken to hospital but later died from his injuries.

The suspect is expected to appear in the Mmabatho Magistrate’s Court on a charge of murder.

Acting North West Provincial Commissioner Major General (Dr) Ryno Naidoo condemned the violence and welcomed the swift arrest.

The Buffalo City Metropolitan Municipality has expressed deep heartbreak and outrage following the brutal killing of a 7-year-old girl from Second Creek. Her small, lifeless body was discovered yesterday at a nearby dumpsite… a scene no child should ever be part of.

This is not just another story. This is a child whose life should have been filled with laughter, school mornings, and dreams still taking shape. Instead, her life was cut short in a way that leaves more questions than answers, and pain that words cannot carry.

The municipality has condemned this horrific act, calling it a cruel and inhumane crime that has shaken the entire community. But beyond the statements, there is a deeper cry from the ground. How many more children must we lose? How many families must bury their future?

This tragedy once again exposes the harsh reality of violence against women and children in our society. It is a wound that keeps reopening, leaving communities living in fear and anger.
