The scenes currently unfolding in the Gaza Strip, especially in Rafah, are of despair, displacement and death. The international community must not and will not remain silent while Gaza lies in ruins at the hands of Israeli forces.

Israel must stop the brutal attacks on the Palestinian people at once and comply with international law. This is why the @CIJ_ICJ must act now. The Maldives fully supports South Africa’s request for additional provisional measures in light of the recent attacks on Rafah.

The #Maldives and its people will continue to stand with the people of Palestine in their struggle for self-determination and their right to an independent state based on the pre-1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital. We will not rest until Palestinian statehood is a reality, and our brothers and sisters in Palestine are able to live a life of dignity, peace and prosperity.
