Chinese President Xi Jinping and his wife, Peng Liyuan, visited on Wednesday the Grand Egyptian Museum in Giza.

At the museum, the world's largest dedicated to a single civilization, the couple posed for a photo in front of a statue of Ramesses II with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and his wife, Entissar El-Sisi.

The two couples then toured the Tutankhamun exhibition, where they viewed some of ancient Egypt's most famous treasures, including the iconic golden burial mask of Tutankhamun.

President Xi arrived in Cairo for a state visit to Egypt at the invitation of Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi.

President Xi said that China and Egypt set an example of friendship, solidarity and coordination between developing countries, with strong political mutual trust, fruitful mutually beneficial cooperation, and close and effective coordination in multilateral affairs.

During the visit, he will have an in-depth exchange of views with Sisi on China-Egypt relations, all-round cooperation between the two countries, and international and regional issues of common concern. The two leaders will also jointly draw up a blueprint for the development of the China-Egypt comprehensive strategic partnership, and write a new chapter in the friendship between the two countries.

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi @AlsisiOfficial held talks with President Xi Jinping.

President Xi noted that Egypt established diplomatic relations with the People’s Republic of China in 1956, becoming the first Arab and African country to do so.

The past seven decades of shared journey through wind and rain has fostered and witnessed the salient features of China-Egypt relations: equality and mutual trust, friendship and mutual learning, solidarity and mutual support, and win-win cooperation.

Faced with the changing and turbulent international and regional situation, the two countries should support each other, deepen cooperation, and continue to build a China-Egypt community with a shared future.

My first visit to Egypt, and my first encounter with the magnificent Grand Egyptian Museum.

Standing among thousands of years of Egyptian civilization, I was reminded that great civilizations do not truly meet for the first time in our era, they recognize something familiar in one another.

#China and #Egypt, two ancient civilizations, have journeyed through thousands of years of history, and now celebrate 70 years of diplomatic relations. From the Nile to the Yellow River and the Yangtze River, from the Pyramids to the Great Wall, our stories were written in different lands, yet they carry a shared human spirit: to create, to explore, to preserve, and to pass wisdom on to generations yet to come.

As our two leaders have emphasized, civilizations flourish not by isolating themselves, but through dialogue, exchange and mutual learning.

Perhaps this is the most beautiful meaning of civilization: not simply remembering where we came from, but discovering how much we can understand, appreciate and learn from one another.

From the Nile to the Yellow River and the Yangtze River, may these two ancient civilizations continue to meet, inspire and walk together toward a future of friendship, respect and mutual understanding. 🇨🇳❤️🇪🇬
