@trendylefty@GrumpyBadger5 The block manufacturer in Donegal was a major supplier (About 80%
to Donegal Co. council, Donegal population is 160,000.
Lots of public buildings Housing estates have been built with faulty blocks
@trendylefty@GrumpyBadger5 Unfortunately Self regulation is what caused this .
It seems in Ireland the homeowner is not protected if their house is defective plus wouldn't be easily sold
There fore people have no choice but to take to the streets to demand redress from the government.
@Mikey1Jackson2@ProfPaulDunlop I don't think taxpayers ever imagined taking to the streets to ask the government to pay to rebuild their homes. Regarding housing it seems everyone is protected except the homeowner.
The defective blocks scandal is probably the greatest let down of the justice system in Donegal
@RTELateLateShow No he shouldn't Thousands of people in Donegal and other counties paying for homes affected by defective blocks while him and his cohorts partied he should be in jail

@PaddyDiver4 Spot on There needs to be serious reform in building rules and legislation to ensure this doesn't happen again. All companies that supplied and produced defective blocks need to be jailed. The government bailed the banks in 2008, now it's time to protect it's citizens

Mica victims vs "Taxpayers"๐ฅ
Ukranians refugees vs Irish ๐ฅ
This is the most cynical Govt we have ever had and everything it does is designed to turn us all against one another
And that's what this levy on "concrete" is designed to do to us
I don't know boys...
@PresidentIRL@MichealMartinTD@LeoVaradkar Could you imagine living in a mica riddled house trying to keep it warm, Coal oil gas Costs,
Costs of living petrol costs
Plus on top of that Rebuilding house costs?
The people of Donegal can!
Enough is Enough!

@DonalMacNamee97 Thanks donal.
The Defective blocks scandal is the biggest scandal in irish construction history
More counties will undoubtedly follow suit.

The Mulcahy report on Donegal planning corruption is STILL sitting on the Ministers desk
Last year we learned about many planning issues related to the supplier of defective concrete blocks.
We need to know if there is any mica issues in this report
