As tensions between Kuki and Naga groups intensify, concerns are growing over competing territorial claims, historical grievances, and allegations that long-simmering disputes are now resurfacing in the shadow of the larger Kuki-Meitei conflict. While Naga groups insist they remained neutral during the peak of the violence and often acted as mediators, they now claim that expanding demands over land and political influence have brought them into direct conflict with Kuki organizations.

Hours after the release of the Naga individuals, the bodies of the two Kuki men abducted on 11 March were found in a forested area in Kamjong district, sources said. The deceased have been identified as Thengin Baite (40) of Thawai Kuki village in Kamjong and Thangboimang Khongsai (35) of Shangkai village in Ukhrul district.
