That’s a funny way to put it, but in-universe it’s more symbolic than literal.

Sokka and Suki don’t actually avoid kissing at night because Princess Yue is “watching.” Yue becomes the Moon Spirit, so she’s more of a spiritual presence than a conscious observer.

The moon symbolism is there to remind us of:

Sokka’s grief and loyalty to Yue
the emotional weight of moving on
and how the Moon Spirit is tied to waterbending and balance

So when Sokka eventually moves forward with Suki, it’s not him “waiting for permission from the moon,” it’s more about him finally finding peace with Yue’s sacrifice and being able to love again.

Still… the idea of Yue just casually side-eyeing from space is peak Avatar comedy

Honestly, it’s one of the better pieces of evidence that the friendship wasn’t completely fake or toxic.

When Azula orders the triple throne in Ba Sing Se, she’s not gaining anything strategically. It’s a small moment that suggests she genuinely expected Mai and Ty Lee to sit beside her and share in the victory.

The problem is that Azula’s idea of friendship is warped by how she was raised. She clearly cares about them in her own way, but she also uses intimidation, manipulation, and control because that’s what she learned from Ozai.

So the friendship wasn’t:

Purely a lie
Purely healthy

It was a genuine friendship filtered through someone who had never been taught how healthy relationships work.

That’s what makes Mai and Ty Lee’s betrayal hurt Azula so much. If she didn’t care about them at all, their choice wouldn’t have shattered her worldview.

The triple throne scene is one of those subtle moments that reminds us Azula wasn’t incapable of affection, she was just terrible at expressing it.
