The Meshutefet (Joint List) is a combined Arab party that stands practically for the dissolution of Israel as a Jewish, democratic state. It also is a communist party seeking to oppose the West as a whole.
Arabs have served in parliament within several parties, including Labor, and an Arab was #2 on the list of one of the right-wing parties (which failed to cross threshold). An Arab party already served in a ruling coalition. And an Arab party that seeks the betterment of Arab populations is not a problem.
But this is a party that embraces the most extreme Arab nationalism, as well as equally dangerous communism (Hadash branch). It U.S. the embodiment of the Red-Green axis attacking and seeking to destroy Israel and Western civilization as a whole.
While some may even argue parties in Israel’s parliament should to take an oath of office to uphold the core founding documents, structures and institutions of the state, which is fairly common in democracies (even our own), Israel has chosen to allow such parties to sit in parliament unconditionally with full rights of parliament.
But there is NO democracy in the world that has an obligation to place in the executive branch of government itself clearly subversive, hostile parties which seek to destroy the state. No democracy, simply, is obligated to commit suicide.
To accuse Israel of racism for demurring on bringing in an Islamo-fascist-communist movement into the center of power of the state says more about the low quality of your mind, morals and knowledge than it says about Israel.
How many voters actually moved between the blocs? Almost none.
Here’s the math. Netanyahu’s bloc didn’t really win 64 seats in 2022. It won 60, plus a bonus from the votes wasted when Meretz and Balad fell below the threshold. The surge in Arab turnout and the left-wing voters flown in from abroad cost him about four more, which takes him to 56. Then he burned another seat or seat and a half on Ofer Winter and other adventurers. That leaves about 54.5, against roughly 53 today. The net shift between the blocs comes to between half a seat and one seat.
The whole campaign rested on one promise: Bennett, Eisenkot and Lieberman would bring over Likud voters. It never happened, and Bennett’s campaign shows why. He started out pitching himself as the man who would bring the right, with the left backing him because only he could topple Netanyahu. Until six months ago, he was holding parlor meetings in Gush Etzion. Then Eisenkot entered the race, and Bennett decided to outflank him from the left. He took on candidates from the Kaplan Street protests. The right walked away, so he merged with Lapid and lost more ground, until he was outflanking the Democrats.
The more I think about it, the more worried I am by what the Muslim Brotherhood has managed to do with the Arab vote in Israel this time—and pretty much for the first time. There won’t turn out to be significant actionable criminality involved, maybe a few bribes and payments. It will just be that they turned on a power we gave them and that they never properly used before.
Arabs have always underperformed. They’ve made a bit of noise but have never been taken really seriously with the power they always could wield in elections. At root, voting in Jewish Israel’s elections is un-Islamic: it recognizes a power over Islam which they cannot tolerate.
But right now, at this moment when they detect that the elements of Jewish Israel which have no real conception of what Islam is or wants are vulnerable and above all DESPERATE to regain power from their nemesis, Netanyahu and the Islam aware right, they pounce.
The element of Israeli society the Muslim Brotherhood are targeting is the one which almost entirely ran Israel until October 7th and still infects the judiciary, the army, and our deep state—as well as many politicians. It is marked by decades of the Two-State Delusion, active participation in the Deceit Process, and the desire for “Peace”. Yes, even Netanyahu is responsible for playing his part in this.
“Peace at all costs, peace in spite of all terror, peace however long and hard the road may be; for without peace, there is no survival.”
Today this is the so-called "Change Block", where the change they are desperate for is to change back to the ideas of surrender and offering anything, wealth, comfort, even our most precious land, to the Muslims in the vain and stupid belief this will stop their Jihad against us. The return to the decades of increasing failure.
We even have the tool to prevent this: Section 7A of the Basic Law. This law was passed to ban Rabbi Kahane and people who thought like him from the Knesset. If applied properly by the courts it would ban most of the anti-Israel Arab representation we have in the Knesset. But the court is corrupted by the insane desire for “Peace,” and they think dhimmitude is the way to have it.
And the reason so many Jews have voted for @netanyahu or parties directly supporting him, again, is that they have, at last, recognized he alone is a leader seeking what Churchill sought after the rise of Hitler:
“Victory at all costs, victory in spite of all terror, victory however long and hard the road may be; for without victory, there is no survival.”
Israelis haven't all grasped what Islam and Jihad mean completely, but a great many more have woken up a lot this time. Is it enough?
Are you prepared to have your mind blown?
I’m not joking. Sit down for this and get your blood pressure meds ready.
Osama Saadi, who is part of the Joint list that is estimated to have between 10 and 15 seats in the upcoming Knesset is not just disloyal to the state of Israel.
Ready for this?
We, the Fuld family are suing the Palestinian authority for paying a salary to the family of the terrorist who murdered my brother.
We are in the middle of the lawsuit.
You sitting down?
Guess the name of the lawyer who is representing the PA in the lawsuit?
If you guessed Osama Saadi, you’d be right.
Let me say that again slowly.
Osama Saadi, a lawyer that represents the Palestinian authority and who defends their right to the pay to slay program, aka the PA paying terrorists to kill Jews, is a member of a party that now has 10-15 seats in the Israeli parliament.
But sure, get angry at me when I write a post that these people and any Arabs not loyal to Israel should not even be given citizenship, let alone be allowed in the Knesset.
This man supports Palestinian terror and he does it formally and officially and he will have influence over the future of the Jewish state.
I don’t have any words.
The Herbert Park Hotel, a four-star establishment in Dublin's Ballsbridge district, canceled 70 rooms booked for delegates attending an international conference on combating antisemitism after learning the purpose of their visit.
Maurice Cohen, chairman of the Jewish Representative Council of Ireland, revealed the incident during a reception at Ireland's Foreign Ministry.
According to Cohen, the hotel initially accepted the reservation, but management's attitude changed after he explained that the guests would be attending a conference against antisemitism.
The hotel's general manager asked whether the gathering had any connection to the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), despite the event being entirely civilian and diplomatic.
After consulting the hotel's owners, management informed organizers that the delegates could no longer stay there.
The gathering was the 15th meeting of the Special Envoys and Coordinators Combating Antisemitism (SECCA), supported by the World Jewish Congress and the European Commission, bringing together representatives from across the EU's 27 member states.
Dear @simonschuster,
Your decision to distribute @TuckerCarlson's publishing company's book which outlines a "final solution for Jews" is reprehensible.
Grotesque title aside, its author has trafficked in antisemitic tropes for years.
Avram Burg:
--Says Orthodox Jews "have become the Shylocks of greed"
--Sued Israel to erase his Jewish identity on public documents because he associates Jews with "the Masters"
--questions whether Israel "no longer deserves to exist"
--writes of a "racist" and "supremacist" Israel
--accuses American Jewry of devious ties to "the networks of money, the paranoia, and the addiction to war"
--and on and on
Please reconsider your involvement in this project.
Thank you,
Jeffrey Lax
Christians make up 2% of Pakistan’s population but account for 80% of sewage, sanitation, and street-cleaning workers.
In Egypt, Coptic Christians make up 10% of the population but are responsible for collecting over 90% of the garbage. They are called the “garbage people.”
This is not a coincidence. Across the Muslim world, Christians are relegated to the dirtiest, most degrading, and most humiliating jobs under Islamic social norms.
Yet in the West, Muslims are rising to the highest positions of power. If they become the majority, they will treat Christians and others exactly like that.
A group of migrant teens disrupted a Catholic Mass in Vienna, Austria, repeatedly shouting the Islamic phrase “Allahu Akbar” while Christians were attending a religious service.
The parish priest, who has served the community for two decades, said: “I have never experienced anything like this. And I have been here for 20 years.”
He also revealed that another priest in a different Vienna district had reported similar disruptions occurring regularly at his church.
The priest expressed particular disappointment because his parish has been helping Muslim refugees since 2015, providing housing assistance, German-language courses and support with administrative procedures.
No police complaint was filed, and the church's exact location was withheld for security reasons.
This contrast is extremely clarifying: the post October 7 polls, taken with the results three years later, imply that the median Israeli thinks, “Netanyahu shares the blame for October 7, but also shares the credit for all the astounding victories since.”
Achieving this result was Netanyahu’s single-minded goal for three years. He wanted as much time as possible, he got it, and has now been given another six months (at least) to improve his review score further...
In a way, this is democracy working, incentivising leaders to make their subjects happy in an iterative game. This is also an argument against term limits, by the way, since a leader in his last round of the game lacks much of that incentive.
Despite October 7, despite 10 years of corruption cases, Netanyahu has the reliable votes of 60% of the Jewish population and 50% of the total population. Everything that happened barely made a dent. His opponents need to learn to work around this fact, not keep slamming their heads into it.
The surprising results of the election makes me think about the parallel reality we’ve been living in for the past three years. If the polls were that far off, perhaps they were also wrong about what the public wanted on the hostage deal, the war and who should be prime minister. In other words, we’ve been living in a reality we thought was unfolding, when in fact a different one was unfolding.
If you look at the vote shift itself, almost no seats moved from the Netanyahu bloc to the change bloc. The decline has three causes. First, the Arab vote increased by a dramatic one percentage point. Second, no votes were “wasted” on the Meretz and Balad side, as they were last time. And third, about 2.5 percent of the votes were “wasted” on the Netanyahu bloc’s side: Ofer Winter, a few scattered votes for Noam and Leitner, and the Ethiopian Immigrants Party.
The biggest looser of the Israeli election is Itamar Ben Gvir.
Not only has he crashed and burned to only six seats, but he achieved the opposite of his bombastic rhetoric and inspired the highest voting turnout among Israeli Arabs since 1948.
Antisemites tried to make his chaotic personality to be the face of Israel when all he was a bizarre phase of Israeli politics.
Onward.
I think one of the biggest takeaways from Israel’s elections is the growing national security debate over Arab citizens who support Hamas and identify with a Palestinian national movement hostile to Israel.
Meir Kahane warned about these tensions decades ago and advocated forcibly removing Arabs he considered hostile to the Jewish state. He was assassinated, but the questions he raised about Israel’s security, national identity, and democratic future have not disappeared.
Israel needs a serious debate about how to address citizens who actively support terrorist organizations, including whether those who engage in such conduct should face legal consequences, including denaturalization where legally justified. A democracy cannot afford to ignore genuine security threats.
Bottom line: Eisenkot has failed. The group of four parties he leads, a group that spans the spectrum from the far-left to the “hard right but hates Netanyahu and Haredim”, will not have the votes to unseat him unless they do the unthinkable and do so with the aid of not just the Muslim Brotherhood-aligned Mansour Abbas (who, like the BBC, refuses to call Hamas “terrorists”) but also the Jihad-sympathetic members of the Arab Joint List.
If they were to do this, they could get their scalp and kick Netanyahu out of office for a little while until their coalition collapsed under the contradiction of leading a war against Hamas while being propped up by allies of Hamas.
Kick out Zionists over political issues by using the clout of literal Hamas allies, who would then crow about how they “defeated Netanyahu and Likud as revenge on behalf of Hamas”?
This graph explains why Netanyahu survived yesterday’s election: he has a reliable core coalition. The opposition, for decades now, has been a shapeshifting mess of mergers, all trying but failing to tempt a few seats off the right. The only time it worked was when Bennett ran as right-wing and earned six seats, and then transferred them to the opposition coalition in return for being Prime Minister.
In game-theoretical terms, Israeli politics isn’t a simple game; it’s an “iterated game”, where “reputation effects” are key. So, if Yair Golan gets his way, and the votes or absence of Hamas fans in the Joint List are used to oust the Zionist Right, rather than form some compromise unity coalition, when that inevitably collapses after a few months (at best), all the people involved will face the judgement of the voters in a new game, with collapsed reputations.
Apart from that, they wouldn’t be able to do it, since Lieberman and others are smart enough to realise this. It’s pie in the sky, but would be Netanyahu’s dream. Six months out of power as a martyr to what he will present as an amoral left-Islamist alliance to write his memoirs while all his enemies discredit themselves.
A portion of their base might accept this, but a large portion would not. Obtuse attempts to argue that Netanyahu “also relies on anti-Zionists” by allying with Haredim over decades won’t help. There is a difference between opposing Zionism on arcane technical grounds and demanding the destruction, by violence if needed, of the Jewish State.
This is merely the latest iterative failed phase of the “not Netanyahu” alliance. The problem again and again has been that the underlying political views of the Jewish population do not allow it. This has been going on since 1999 and Ehud Barak, and has failed continuously since. The last time they managed to unseat him was only by a ruse, when Bennett, whose hard-right voters anticipated he would sit in a Netanyahu coalition, traded his political credibility with his base for being the Prime Minister of a rainbow coalition for a year.
The problem is that the core of the Jewish electorate is, for various reasons, loyal to Netanyahu. Even the failures of October 7 didn’t dampen that. Once the 5% of right-wing votes “wasted” on various small right-wing parties are included, approximately half of Israel’s population (and 60%+ of its Jews) picked Netanyahu, directly or by proxy, as their chosen leader.
Netanyahu “survived” the judgement of the people over October 7. Either that or the people decided that while he has culpability, the generals, represented in the election by his chief rivals, former chief of staff until 2019, Eisenkot, and former deputy chief of staff until 2018, Yair Golan, allies and friends of Netanyahu’s arch-enemy Ehud Barak, are more culpable.
Ten years of prosecutions didn’t change the math; the failures of October 7 didn’t change the math; a majority of Israel’s Jews still prefer Netanyahu. His rivals ran an obsessively negative campaign of “centrist populism”, mostly on the Haredi draft issue and on Netanyahu’s personality.
🚨 ISRAELI ARAB PARTY CELEBRATES ELECTION NIGHT WITH PALESTINIAN NATIONAL ANTHEM
Supporters at the Joint List headquarters sang “Biladi, Biladi”, the Palestinian national anthem, during election-night celebrations.
5th column?
Oh look. Arab parties are represented fully in the Knesset. Just like Christians and Jews are represented in Libya, Algeria, Morocco, Tunisia, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Syria, Egypt, and the rest of the Noble Muslim countries. Oh no, wait. Non-Muslims have largely disappeared across all of the 56 countries comprising the Organization of Islamic Cooperation.
If Israel were the "State of Tel Aviv", the "Change Bloc" would have won a landslide of 101 out of 120 seats.
The Likud would be the only coalition party to get past the electoral threshold. Ben-Gvir, Smotrich, Haredim—all out.
But Israel is not Tel Aviv.
Common sense is such a beautiful thing, isn’t it?
If only America was smart enough to not put people in power whose entire worldview hinges on the destruction of our Republic.
Socioeconomic status was key indicator of voting in Israel's elections.
Among Jewish voters, in the lowest socio-economic cluster, Netanyahu's coalition won North Korean levels of support. In the top cluster, 81% voted for the Change Bloc.
