Hi,

Husband and wife own 1.5m of farmland and assets, each.
So this is a small family farm.
Husband dies, wife now has a 3m share.
Wife dies
Daughter inherits and has a £600,000 inheritance tax bill.
The farm earns her an income of 25k per annum , however, she has to pay her tax bill over 10 years (yipee) oh no, wait, that's 60k per year 🤔
What is she to do?
She could sell assets, but she needs them to run the farm. she could lay off workers, but then who helps her with the farm? The only alternative is to sell land.

For sale : piece of land. No farmer wants to buy this. It's too small to turn any hope of profit.
Developers buy it and build on the land.
Labour cheer for joy 🥳

In one generation, this happens all over the country to small and large farms.
The UK is no longer food secure.

We begin to import all our food and suddenly a price of milk doubles, so does your pints, cereal, meat, veg..
Oh no, the UK is in food poverty.
Business closes, shops close as they no longer have food to produce and sell.
Then, another pandemic hits.
We all starve to death.
