#OPINION/ANALYSIS: "The Makui-Thanamba killings add four more names to a growing list of Naga victims this year: SW Chinaoshang and Yaruingam Vashum, killed at TM Kasom on April 18; Horshokmi Jamang, killed at Sinakeithei on April 24; the six Naga hostages whose bodies were recovered on June 10; Chunjanglung Panmei, killed at Pongringlong on June 8; Wiriliangbou Chawang and Kawidinang Abonmai, killed at Langka on August 14; and Wisobou Charenamai, Tadsongbou Ringkangmai, Mariakdibou Wijunamai and Anil Wijunamai, killed at Makui-Thanamba on August 27.
The Naga people have the right to live and travel without fear in their ancestral areas. The responsibility for protecting that right lies with the state.
The Government of India and the Government of Manipur must therefore answer a simple question:
Who will stop the attacks on Naga civilians, and when will those responsible be held accountable?
The demand has been made. What remains is the state's answer." - MARKSON V LUIKHAM

Four more Naga civilians have been killed by suspected Kuki militants along the IT Road in Kangpokpi district today. How many more innocent lives must be lost before decisive action is taken?
This comes at a time when the bodies of six Naga civilians butchered earlier are still being kept in the mortuary by their families as a mark of protest because justice has not yet been delivered.
Those who do not want peace to prevail are still out in the open, armed and emboldened. Condemnations, assurances and mere words are no longer enough. There must be serious, visible and immediate action. The perpetrators must be arrested and brought to justice.

#MANIPUR: Ng Chunthan, Law Secretary of the Naga People’s Organisation, said, “We just released 14 Kukis from Taphou Kuki village (on June 9, 2026) as a goodwill gesture, without harming them. But the Kukis have persistently been harming, ambushing and killing innocent Naga civilians. This is very unfortunate and increasingly concerning. To reciprocate such good faith with killings is baffling for the Nagas.”

Indigenous Women of Manipur rising again, as always but the question remains : Where are we in 2026 and where do we go from here? We were and are there at every movement, at every struggle for the past 122 years since Nupi Lan 1904. Where are we 122 years later socially, economically, politically? Well it’s time that we ask ourselves these questions to enable us to self determine our present and our future #ANewManipur #AResurgentManipur #IndigenousWomen #WhereAreWeInDecisionMaking
