Hello, I am a disabled Albertan who receives AISH benefits. Now's your chance to AMA (Ask me anything)
What's it like to live on AISH in AB?
The changes being made by the UCP government are already negatively impacting 77000 of my fellow clients.

As a PWD I am so tired of others saying they speak on my behalf!
It should be made mandatory that any disability organization, committee, group, or parliamentary body be made up of at least 50 percent members who are currently living on provincial disability assistance.
Firsthand current lived experience and firsthand voices from those who will speak honestly and unfiltered to the abusive and restrictive nature of disability supports in this country.
Using racist stereotypes to try and silence VALID criticism of policy & actions is so freaking gross. Totally on-brand for the Utterly Corrupt Party, though
Canada's federal government pays Plan Institute to downplay the human rights violation that is the Canada Disability Benefit on it's 1 year anniversary.
UN CRPD was clear that the Canada Disability Benefit is woefully inadequate and bureaucracy paperwork meant to impede access.
She has shown so much respect!
“It was clear from our discussions that Premier Smith does not understand treaty or our inherent rights nor does she respect them,” said the chiefs.
A #ThrowbackThursday 🧵
Danielle, my two young adult kids have autism and have each lost $200/month over the last 4 months.
Both had to go through the two step process to remain on AISH. Despite the fact that doctors said that they should both remain on AISH, my daughter received a letter stating that she is being pushed into ADAP and my son received a letter saying he will remain on AISH.
What criteria is UCP using to force individuals into ADAP, if their medical assessments indicate that they cannot work and should remain on AISH?
Both of our adult kids are also living with us and cannot afford to move out with AISH, especially with a $200 reduction and the risk of losing more. My husband and I are approaching our senior years and will only be able to keep them at home for a certain amount of years.
Danielle I need you and the UCP to know that you are creating a crisis for both individuals with disabilities as well as the families that love them and want to help but are limited by age and money.
I would really appreciate if someone from the UCP could contact me.
If you're considering donating your vote bribe, please also consider women's shelters or any org helping our vulnerable Albertans in any capacity.
They've all had large grant cuts by the UCP.
@srtravers@Frazzling@ABDanielleSmith@neudorf_ab You're not just pissing off the disabled, you're pissing off and stressing out their family members, friends, caregivers, case workers. You ready to lose every vote in those categories?
YOU ARE HURTING PEOPLE! Enough!!!
This is what lands in my inbox for doing my job.
I’m a journalist. I cover Indigenous rights, treaty history, and right now — the Alberta separatist movement, and the hate it’s stirring up against First Nations and the people who report on them.
I feel exhausted. But I’m not stopping.
New piece is up. Read it. Then ask yourself why this is normal.

Former Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert:
"The fight against Jewish terrorism in the West Bank must advance to the next stage and be waged with greater determination. The daily terrorism that is managed, directed, encouraged and supported by the Israeli government can no longer be tolerated."

@RobBreakenridge@EdmABCanada@JasonNixonAB You Sir, are a greedy, selfish, fucking moron. NOBODY believes anything you say. You ditched Assisted Living so you could TRY and avoid the inevitable fallout that is about to come. But it's YOUR program. And @neudorf_ab is just the fall guy for @ABDanielleSmith.
Medical grifter & vexatious litigant Viliam (aka William) Makis has had his request for an appeal DENIED. He had asked permission to appeal the finding that he was in contempt of an injunction to stop him from calling himself a doctor and practicing medicine. CPSA awarded costs.
As the Alberta separation movement spreads misinformation about Indigenous rights, Dr. Bruce McIvor, lawyer and treaty expert, had a message for those hearing these claims:
“You can push back on that. The biggest lie being perpetuated is that First Nations surrendered their land. That’s a lie, lie, huge lie,” he said at the Blackfoot Confderacy Treaty Unity gathering in Calgary on Sunday.
Dr. Bruce McIvor is a partner at First Peoples Law LLP, where he represents Indigenous Peoples across Canada in both litigation and negotiation. He is widely regarded as one of Canada’s foremost practitioners of Aboriginal law.
