@CopsAgainst @JohnRichardOwen Ok, I’ll take that as an informed potential scenario. We lose financially twice, but gain a win in still being able to leave at the time of our choosing.
@CopsAgainst @JohnRichardOwen For example, those with 25 years plus now, can go at 50 with their reduced transitional pension. Some are couple years from 50. Likelihood of govt moving that goalpost and saying, “sorry, that’s discrimination, you have to wait till 55 now for that pension”?
@CopsAgainst @JohnRichardOwen And you can guarantee that the accrued rights including the transitional promise that an officer can leave on their initial retirement date, taking all accrued pension thus far from that scheme, despite moving into a new scheme, will be honoured?
@CopsAgainst @JohnRichardOwen The issue being that for some with definitive costed retirement plans made for not many months away, based on protections given and now potentially lost, there isn’t the time to sit back and wait. Some will have to act now or imminently.
@jcnewman8 @PFEW_Phill @scottmann4NC@PFEW_HQ @PFEW_Tiff Thanks for the suggestion, but no. There will be no let up until answers are forthcoming. If constant questions focus the mind to push for those answers, that’s whats going to happen.
@JohnRichardOwen @CopsAgainst (3) it seems the main players who had a hand in all of this, now step back from the confusion and say “we don’t know” what the consequences are.
@JohnRichardOwen @CopsAgainst (2) On one hand we have the Fed with no answers, on the other we have the Pension Challenge group whose aim was the removal of these discriminatory protections, who have no answers.
@JohnRichardOwen @CopsAgainst John, we can at the moment, but it’ll depend on how far protections are removed. Is there potential that those under 50 with 25 years service could have to resign early in order to ensure they can take a twice hit pension when they become 50?
@PFEW_HQ@GOVUK should thousands of us not yet 50 but with 25+ service be considering resigning now, in order to take our (again) reduced pensions at 50? If we leave before protections removed, are we safe from a second hit? This needs to be answered quickly.
@LeicesterPolFed should thousands of us with 25+ service be considering resigning now, in order to take our (again) reduced pensions at 50? If we leave before protections removed, are we safe from a second hit?
@PFEW_Chair @PFEW_Che should thousands of us with 25+ service be considering resigning early, in order to take our (again) reduced pensions at 50? If we leave before protections removed, are we safe from a second hit and having our service extended when so close to finish line?
@PFEW_Chair should thousands of us with 25+ service be considering resigning now, in order to take our (again) reduced pensions at 50? If we leave before protections removed, are we safe from a second hit?
@PFEW_Chair John, we need some guidance out here. Even if just a potential scenarios brief. For those 2 years from retirement, what does all this potentially mean? We are not asking for cast iron promises, just some sort of information to fill the void.
@PFEW_Phill @PFEW_HQ@scottmann4NC @PFEW_Tiff Phil, with respect and taking into consideration that you therefore know the issues we face, can’t some sort of potential scenarios be put out? Pension challenge lot are ok, they have won their fight to get our protections taken. There are immediate/near term consequences.
@PFEW_Chair @UKHouseofLords@narpohq (4) should thousands of us with 25+ service be considering resigning now, in order to take our (again) reduced pensions at 50? If we leave before protections removed, are we safe from a second hit? What is going on????
@PFEW_Chair @UKHouseofLords@narpohq (3) Answers really needed? Now Truss has said protections are going, does that mean we can’t retire on our 87 schemes as promised? At the ages promised? How much of a hit, after already taking one, are W expecting to take again?
@PFEW_Chair @UKHouseofLords@narpohq (2) The lack of info is not right. Pension challenge whose aim was to remove the protections can’t give a straight answer and the Feds response is muted at best. We at least need likely outcomes because some now maybe have to make drastic changes to near future life plans
@PFEW_Chair @UKHouseofLords@narpohq (1) John, what is going on with transitional pension protections now. You have thousands of cops out here near the finishing line, with near term life plans made on promises given. Mortgages to finalise, kids at Uni, dates for retirement etc etc
